Who we are and what we do:

The Office of Investigations receives complaints against licensees of health related boards, investigates all complaints that are deemed to articulate a potential practice act violation, coordinates with board consultants and staff attorneys of the Office of General Counsel to review those investigations to determine whether formal discipline is appropriate.

The Office of Investigations performs critical tasks necessary in supporting the department's mission to protect, promote, and improve the health and well-being of all people in Tennessee. While the receipt of complaints and investigative work is generally performed by investigators, the office requires support staff to process complaints, open complaints, and communicate with the public.

Job Overview:

The Tennessee Department of Health is seeking an Admin Services Assistant 3 (ASA3) to serve as an Intake Coordinator for the Health-Related Boards in the Office of Investigations (OIV). The duties for this position involve retrieving, reviewing, processing, evaluating, and opening complaints filed against healthcare providers.

Key Responsibilities:

The Admin Services Assistant will represent the Department in receiving, triaging, opening, and processing all complaints that are received in the Office of Investigations. The Admin Assistant will also be responsible for accurately delivering, retrieving, and distributing office mail, including stamping and organizing it in an appropriate manner. The person hired will also be responsible for ensuring telephone coverage for the Office of Investigations during the hours of operation and will also attend and present the Office of Investigations report during each public health-related board meeting.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree AND experience equivalent to three years of increasingly responsible full-time professional staff administrative experience.

Substitution of Experience for Education: Qualifying full-time increasingly responsible sub professional, paraprofessional, or professional experience may be substituted for the required education, on a year-for-year basis, to a maximum of four years.

Substitution of Education for Experience: Additional graduate coursework in public administration, business administration, or other acceptable field may be substituted for the required experience, on a year-for-year basis, to a maximum of two years.

OR

Two years of increasingly responsible professional administrative services experience with the State of Tennessee.
