Job Summary: The Director of Safety is responsible for leading, developing, and executing the company's comprehensive safety strategy across all locations nationwide. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and client occupational safety regulations while fostering a proactive safety culture throughout all levels of the organization. The Director of Safety works closely with executive leadership, operations, project management, and field personnel to minimize risk, prevent injuries, and support safe, efficient execution of technology infrastructure projects. The Director of Safety provides strategic oversight of safety programs related to construction and technology installation activities, including but not limited to working at heights, ladder and lift operations, confined spaces, electrical safety, tool usage, and jobsite hazard mitigation. This position is accountable for driving continuous improvement in safety performance, reducing incidents and claims, and ensuring consistent safety standards across a nationally distributed workforce. Job Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Fully support and develop, implement, and continuously improve companywide safety policies, programs, and procedures aligned with OSHA, DOT, applicable state regulations, and client requirements. 2. Lead national safety initiatives focused on injury prevention, hazard recognition, and regulatory compliance. 3. Provide direction and support to regional safety managers, operational and field leadership. 4. Establish and execute a national safety vision that aligns with the company's business objectives, operational realities, and growth strategy. 5. Maintain uptodate knowledge of regulatory changes impacting structured cabling and lowvoltage construction work. 6. Manage safety training programs, including onboarding, recurring training, and specialized training. 7. Track and analyze safety metrics (i.e., TRIR, DART, EMR, near misses, corrective actions) and share findings with executive leadership. 8. Manage OSHA inspections, citations, and correspondence; oversee abatement strategies and documentation. 9. Serve as the primary company liaison for regulatory agencies, insurance carriers, brokers, and thirdparty administrators. 10. Assist with claims management and participate in insurance claims reviews. 11. Serve as a trusted safety advisor to executive and field leadership, providing data-driven recommendations and risk assessments. 12. Lead enterprisewide incident management, reporting, investigation, and analysis of all safety incidents, ensuring timely corrective actions and effective communication of lessons learned to prevent recurrence and reduce risk. 13. Support and provide guidance for operational development for locations not meeting safety expectations. 14. Partner with operations leadership to embed safety protocols into daily field activities and project execution. 15. Support regular risk assessments, job hazard analyses (JHAs), and safety audits for active jobsites and facilities 16. Prepare and maintain safety related records and reports, including but not limited to OSHA 300 logs and incident data for the company. 17. Promote a culture of accountability where safety is a shared responsibility across the organization. 18. Oversee the hiring and managing of safety personnel. 19. Other responsibilities as assigne Qualifications Physical and Mental Requirements: * Must be self-motivated, positive in approach, professional and lead others to create, develop and implement project process improvement(s). * Must promote Company culture and mission to all employees, vendors, clients and business partners. * Must be able to act as the Company liaison for interface with Client, vendor, contractor, and IES representative(s). * Must possess proven problem solving and critical thinking skills and the ability to effectively read, write and give oral presentation(s). * Must possess manual dexterity, flexibility and visual acuity to perform inspection functions requiring walking, climbing, squatting, lifting, bending, twisting, etc. * Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and distinguish all applicable codes, colors and symbols correctly. * Maintaining body equilibrium and agility to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, ascending or descending stairs. * Bending the body at the waist, the legs at the knees, and extending arms and hands in any direction in a repetitive manner. * Must possess the ability to learn the company and client computer systems. Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements: * Minimum of 12-15 years of safety senior leadership experience within construction industries, preference to low-voltage industry experience. * Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, environmental health, engineering, or a related field preferred. A non-related bachelor's degree with equivalent work experience and safety related certifications may be evaluated for consideration. * Experience managing safety programs across multiple states or regions. * Professional certifications given preference (e.g., CSP, ASP, CHST). * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Proficient computer knowledge and experience utilizing MS Office (Word, Excel, Power BI. PowerPoint & Outlook). * Must be detail-oriented with high level organizational skills. * Ability to communicate effectively with project stakeholders including field personnel, IES management and Client interfaces. * Ability to respond as needed in support of all safety emergency situations with or without advance notice. * Must meet company minimum driving standards. * Must have proven ability to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously Minimum Years of Experience 0-2 License Required No Minimum Education High School Overview IES is a national provider of industrial products and infrastructure services to a variety of end markets, including electrical, mechanical and communications contracting solutions for the commercial, industrial, residential and renewable energy markets.
