THIS POSITION HAS MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

POSITION SUMMARY

The Production Shift Supervisor is responsible for daily oversight of molding operations, including workforce leadership, production performance, employee training, safety compliance, and quality standards. This role ensures efficient workflow, accurate documentation, and a safe, productive work environment while supporting continuous improvement initiatives. The daily management duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

KEY FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership & Conduct

* Demonstrate exemplary professional conduct, integrity, judgment, and respect toward employees, customers, and vendors

* Provide leadership and direction to all hourly manufacturing employees on the shift

* Lead effective pre-shift meetings to ensure communication of expectations, priorities, and safety topics

* Engage the workforce to achieve plant objectives, including reducing risk, costs, and downtime

* Fairly and consistently enforce company policies and procedures

Production Management

* Track and direct all parts manufactured according to work orders

* Oversee production rates, workflow, efficiency, quality, and ensure target attainment

* Maintain accurate daily production/data entry and performance records

* Ensure production standards are met to maintain superior product quality

* Partner with support groups to achieve operational goals for the shift

* Analyze performance data and respond proactively to issues or opportunities

Employee Supervision & Development

* Supervise, direct, and support mold techs, team leaders, and machine operators regarding quality, productivity, safety, and housekeeping

* Assign daily work tasks and ensure staffing alignment with production needs

* Provide coaching, resolve workplace issues, and conduct performance evaluations

* Oversee new employee training, cross-training, and development with clear expectations

* Evaluate progress during probationary periods (2-week, 30, 60, 90 day) and recommend retention or discharge

* Manage disciplinary actions including counseling, written warnings, suspensions, and terminations as warranted

Administrative & HR Responsibilities

* Approve or deny vacation requests; monitor attendance and take corrective action as needed

* Verify all timecards and ensure accurate recording of hours worked

* Maintain accurate documentation relevant to production, attendance, injuries, and discipline

Safety, Housekeeping & Compliance

* Promote and enforce a safe work environment and ensure adherence to all safety regulations

* Conduct thorough accident investigations, interview witnesses, document findings, and ensure employees receive proper medical care

* Maintain housekeeping standards throughout the production area

* Ensure staff understand and meet food safety and regulatory responsibilities, including reporting potential issues

MANAGERIAL / SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

* Interpret and communicate company policies to employees

* Assign jobs, schedule employees, and ensure adequate staffing

* Provide training, direction, and coaching to resolve or prevent workplace issues

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

* High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience

* Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to lead group presentations

* Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with loud noise; hearing protection required in designated areas

* Ability to sit, stand, bend, and lift/move objects for extended periods

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

* Ability to read and write English

* Proficiency with basic math (addition, subtraction, division, multiplication)

* Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office, email, spreadsheets, and professional communication

In the event the Shift Supervisor is out of the facility, the "Lead" Process Leader will assume responsibilities.
