The Position

2026 Summer Intern - High Throughput Automation Technologies

Department Summary

The High-Throughput Automation Technologies team is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented individual to help develop and implement laboratory automation systems & supporting data pipeline solutions for molecular biology, process development, and assay automation workstreams for the development of AAV therapies. This is a unique opportunity to build key strategic capabilities, as PTCG prepares to mature its gene therapy platform and support a growing pipeline.

This internship position is located in Philadelphia, on-site.

The Opportunity

  • Gain hands-on experience with complex lab automation workflows.

  • Work alongside Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to design and implement complex robotics workflows.

  • Build and optimize data pipelines integrated into robotics platforms to accelerate the decision making process.

  • Collaborate across the organization to implement automation solutions that accelerate the pipeline.

Program Highlights

  • Intensive 6 months, full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship.

  • Program start dates are in May/June (Summer)

  • A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship.

  • Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.

  • Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry.

Who You Are (Required)

Required Education: You meet one of the following criteria:

  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree (enrolled student).

  • Must have attained a Bachelor's Degree (not currently enrolled in a graduate program).

  • Must be pursuing a Master's Degree (enrolled student).

Required Majors: Chemical engineering, bioengineering, biochemistry, biology, data science or other related life science areas.

Required Skills:

  • Self-motivated to learn and innovate.

  • Strong organizational skills and detailed documentation abilities.

  • Proficiency in data processing and analysis using tools such as Microsoft Excel with ability to interpret complex data sets.

  • Demonstrated strong customer focus and ability to collaborate across disciplines

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications

  • Proficiency in at least one programming language is strongly preferred (e.g. C#, Python, R, Matlab, or Visual Basic).

  • Basic knowledge of laboratory automation hardware and software such as Tecan or Hamilton platforms is a bonus.

  • Knowledge of cell biology is preferred.

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

Relocation benefits are not available for this job posting.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Pennsylvania is $45.00 - $50.00 per hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
