The Role: Orrick has an exciting opening for a Senior Content Specialist (Pitch Team) who is ready to be challenged and build a career within an AmLaw Top 100 law firm. This position can be based in any of Orrick's U.S. offices.

What will I do: In this role, you will play a key role in executing on our content strategy for pitches, proposals and marketing collateral. This is an exciting opportunity for a creative and strategic thinker with strong writing skills and a passion for storytelling to make a significant impact on our firm's success. In collaboration with our Marketing and Communications colleagues, as well as firm teams such as IT, Innovation and HR, you will create and manage strategic firm and practice content. As a member of the Pitch Team, you will be a key contributor within our overall global Business Development department, and at the direction of a Pitch Team Senior Manager, you will play a dynamic role in supporting the firm's, department's and team's objectives and strategies.


Responsibilities

  • Write, edit, tailor and proofread a variety of pitch materials, including proposals, presentations, and executive summaries, ensuring accuracy, clarity and consistency in messaging as well as alignment with client expectations.
  • Participate in pitch debrief sessions to identify areas of strength and areas for improvement across content strategies.
  • Build and manage a content management calendar to implement within the Pitch Team, working most closely with the team's senior managers and sector managers.
  • Collaborate with the Communications team to respond to client Inclusion & Belonging surveys, and craft and revise firm overviews for directory submissions, league tables, and other award submissions, as required.
  • Own and manage the Pitch Team's Exemplar library and repository of standard firm content, including continually updating and refining content based on feedback and relevancy.
  • Lead coordination of the Pitch Team's Gold Standard RFP library, leveraged by our RFP AI Tool, including continually updating and refining the inventory based on collaborative efforts within our team.
  • Lead coordination of quarterly Sales Materials Library updates in collaboration with our sector managers in our team.
  • Collaborate with the Business Transformation team on the integration of an AI solution to aid in the preparation of RFP responses.
  • Support the Pitch Team in the content and editing requirements of the pitch process - including flexibility in after-hours and occasional weekend responsibilities for tight turnaround proposals to meet deadlines.
  • Develop and own specific Pitch Team functions, as assigned by the Director of Pitches and Pitch Team Senior Manager, to improve firmwide marketing and team processes, technology utilization and/or content.

Qualifications

  • Four-year degree in Communications, English or other writing-intensive field preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • Strong writing skills, with the ability to craft a compelling story within a sales context. Applicants will be required to provide writing samples.
  • Excellent word-processing computer skills necessary; very high proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Word. Additional platforms include Microsoft Forms, Excel and SharePoint.
  • Two to five years of prior law firm or professional services firm writing and/or business development experience preferred.
  • High-level attention to detail and proofreading skills.
  • Advanced ability to analyze large amounts of information and data for key takeaways and crafting of messaging points.
  • Ability to become proficient in the use of the following marketing systems and tools: Orrick's Biography Tool, Project Management Platform; Orrick's Portal; Orrick.ai, Orrick's RFP Tool and other relevant firm systems.
  • Superior project management skills, including independent discernment and decision-making with strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to gain agreement and to build positive relationships within the firm through quality work and through leadership.
  • Flexible and able to adapt to changing list of priorities and excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexible and can handle stress with the ability to effectively balance projects and prioritize tasks.
  • Ability and interest in utilizing AI to create efficiencies and improve content quality.

Compensation and Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is:

  • New York City, Silicon Valley, and San Francisco $86,000 - $124,000
  • Washington DC, Los Angeles, Orange County, Santa Monica, Sacramento, Boston, and Seattle $79,000 - $115,000
  • All Other US Locations $74,000 - $108,000

Orrick is committed to providing a comprehensive, competitive, and thoughtful total compensation package to our attorneys and staff, wherever they work. This compensation and benefits information is based on the Orrick's estimate as of the date of publication and may be modified in the future. The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include, but not limited to, qualifications, relevant experience or education, particular skills or expertise, geography. Other compensation may include an annual discretionary merit bonus, which would be determined by Firm and individual performance.
