The Engineer II - Distribution Reliability is a career level professional position for an engineer with knowledge in reliability measures, operations, and ROW maintenance of the distribution system. Provides engineering solutions to repetitive failures and other issues that adversely affect distribution system reliability. This position provides analytics and support for all distribution reliability initiatives statewide. This is the ideal position for a highly organized engineer who enjoys solving challenging problems with ongoing results. Key Responsibilities

- Contributes value (insight based) deliverables, focusing on distribution reliability measures and maintenance strategies.
- Provide root cause analysis for distribution line outages and power quality events that affect customers. Plan for remedial steps to prevent future outages by highlighting failing equipment, vegetation issues, and preventative maintenance strategies
- Provide system administration of Cleco's outage reporting system, assist with the integration with other applications, and provide reporting and dashboarding solutions to monitor established KPIs.
- Develop rehab engineering solutions following our inspection cycle.
- Provide annual vegetation management performance reporting including: Cost per mile, circuit performance following cycle treatment using data from multiple sources such as ORS, ADMS, line sensors & relays.
- Complete specialized or moderately complex engineering activities, requiring some interpretation of practices, and an understanding of policies and programs.
- Works through diversified procedures and specialized standards and precedents covering many situations.
- Prepare annual LPSC annual reports of operating conditions including a list of worst performing circuits.
- Help facilitate the restoration of distribution system following a major storm event by managing and analyzing the storm data.
- Works independently and receives limited guidance.
- Provides engineering support for project coordinators and service reliability specialists as needed.
- Provides communication and regular updates as requested bytheir manager to provide status updates on assigned projects and tasks, identifies risks in delivery and actively support business development objectives.
- Decision-making involves the use of judgment and there is some emphasis on the development of new/improved procedures and on the translation of policy into operational plans.
- Decisions impact the immediate department area supervised and are governed by standardized work routines that permit the use of initiative.
- Considers future implications beyond the immediate problem, and is not closely supervised.
- Works with a moderate level of guidance.
- Uses prescribes guidelines or policies to analyze and resolves problems, solves problems in straightforward situations, analyzes possible solutions using technical experience, judgments and precedents.
Qualifications Required Education, Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET approved curriculum or bachelor's degree in Engineering with certification from NCEES to sit for the FE
- 3-5+ years of related experience (preferred)
- Step progression levels based on skill proficiency and scope of job.
- Strong business acumen pertaining to the Utility industry
- Strong knowledge of leading practices for their practice area
- Strong planning and project management skills
- Willingness and ability to learn new technologies on the job
- Proficient at functioning effectively within a team environment, present ideas and opinions in a respective and collegial manner
- Progression to this level is strictly restricted based on critical individual capabilities and business requirements; must be supported by market survey data.
