Overview
THE BOX OFFICE MANAGER reports to and works under the direction of the Director of Ticket Operations, and in coordination with the Caine School of the Arts, Production Services, and The Office of Events.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE will be a service-oriented professional with a bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent experience. The candidate will have excellent communication skills, be willing to adjust to a variety of client temperaments and personalities, have patience and always exhibit a helpful attitude when dealing with clients and patrons, be able to accept and respond positively to direction, and be able to complete projects and job duties independently, on time and with precision.

Responsibilities
  • Manage all aspects of the Fine Arts Box Office.
  • Provide excellent customer relations.
  • Assist in hiring, training and scheduling all Box Office cashier staff.
  • Ensure optimal Arts Box Office coverage.
  • Approval of time for hourly employees for Arts Box Office.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and recommend merit increases for student workers.
  • Balance and file all ticket office reports.
  • Prepare ticket office deposits and change funds.
  • Ensure that transactions are reconciled.
  • Process all cash, checks, and credit card sales according to USU and Box Office procedures.
  • Coordinate ticket services for presenters or promoters of events in Fine Arts Center venues by creating and managing shows in the Ticketing software.
  • Provide ticket sales counts, reports and ticket sales projections to staff and other presenters or promoters.
  • Work with the Scheduling Coordinator and input correct Box Office information and fees into the reservation syst for estimates and invoices.
  • Attend production meetings as requested to ensure Box Office support necessary for successful events.
  • Work with the Director of Ticket Operations to formulate and recommend box office policies and procedures.
  • Handle suggestions, changes, complaints and compliments from the public and internal or external clients on behalf of the box office.
  • Report necessary issues to the Director of Ticket Operations and Production Services.
  • Coordinate all ticket sales and promotions as appropriate with the marketing team.
  • Gather and maintain information on all CCA events and provide information to callers.
  • Ensure that the maximum information is captured for single ticket sales.
  • Track ticket sales, provide ticket sales projections, and provide various performance reports.
  • Keep up to date on all ticketing trends in the Arts.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Four years of experience in box office operations or closely related field; or an associate degree plus two years of experience; or a bachelor's degree is required.
  • Basic accounting skills.
  • Experience in supporting theatrical, music or other arts-related events.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge and experience with the use of spreadsheets, word-processing and current computer software.
  • Ability to work as part of a highly motivated team in a fast-paced environment, to analyze situations, and to respond appropriately with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skill, including the ability to give clear, concise and accurate instruction and handling escalated situations.
  • Demonstrated organizational and planning skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and maintain cooperative working relationships with constituents such as faculty/staff, students, volunteers, and patrons of the Arts.
