PRIMARY PURPOSE



CNA is hiring for a Network Administrator I in the Chief Information Office (CIO). CNA is an organization dedicated to the safety and security of our nation. This position will support in this mission by troubleshooting and administering network and computer operations infrastructure and help to implement network security procedures.

JOB DESCRIPTION AND / OR DUTIES




  • Network Troubleshooting: Takes ownership of escalated Help Desk issues related to network connectivity and security, working directly with the User Support Team to drive swift resolution. Engages senior Network Team members for guidance when needed to ensure problems are resolved efficiently and effectively.
  • Network Operations: Actively monitors network printers, servers, and core infrastructure to detect failures, performance issues, and security concerns. Escalates irregularities to the appropriate teams, identifies root causes, and executes corrective actions. Manages network account administration, performs connectivity testing, and tracks the health of network services. Contributes to documenting changes and updates within the network environment.
  • Data Center Operations: Oversees corporate data backup processes and verifies that recovery operations are accurate and complete. Executes secure destruction of electronic media in alignment with organizational security standards. Performs user account configuration and maintenance, supporting the ongoing operation of the MDS messaging system. Develops, maintains, and updates Data Center standard operating procedures to ensure consistent and compliant operations.
  • Network Infrastructure: Supports the administration of LAN, WAN, and SAN environments. Contributes to researching, recommending, procuring, installing, analyzing, and maintaining both classified and unclassified network systems and components, including routers, switches, remoteaccess solutions, servers, firewalls, and cabling. Collaborates with senior team members to deploy and evaluate networkmonitoring tools that generate logs and reports for troubleshooting, maintenance, and archival needs. Assists in administering core network services such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VTP. Troubleshoots issues across a heterogeneous operatingsystem environment, including Windowsbased systems.
  • Network Security: Enforces controlled access to corporate LANs through DHCP reservations, portsecurity configurations, and related security measures. Supports senior Network Administrators in auditing all networkconnected devices-including desktops, laptops, servers, and mobile hardware-to ensure full compliance with corporate security policies and procedures. Maintains uptodate knowledge of the corporate IT security manual and applies established security policies across the environment. Demonstrates a strong understanding of VPN technologies, IDS/IPS systems, and Zero Trust security principles.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.



JOB REQUIREMENTS



Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, or related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience. Security+ certification highly preferred. Additional industry credentials-such as the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and foundational knowledge of Zscaler preferred.



Experience: Minimum 2 years strong IT support experience including troubleshooting network hardware (network interface cards, hubs, network ports, cabling) and connectivity issues via the desktop (ipconfig, ping, telnet, ssh, etc.).



Skills: Foundational understanding of network equipment such as routers, switches, and firewalls with ability to work with core networking concepts including DHCP, DNS, subnet masking, and NAT. Ability to perform basic tasks in network operating systems like Cisco IOS, NXOS, and FortiOS, and support Windows and legacy environments. Ability to configure/harden desktop and server operating systems. Knowledge of patch management tools; ability to help connect and configure Cisco equipment. Must have ability to work collaboratively with team members with strong customer service skills. Interacts effectively with internal users and vendors; strong organizational skills with ability to write clear, concise, and accurate documentation. Ability to provide training; show initiative in learning new technologies. Good oral and written communications skills with ability to communicate clearly to both technical and nontechnical audiences.



Other: Able to lift up to 50lbs (e.g. computer equipment), able to walk (to end user workstations) and bend (as needed to install or connect hardware). Support after-hours maintenance when required. This position is onsite, in-person and may be eligible for hybrid work arrangements at the discretion of the Supervisor. Employees may be required to work at CNA headquarters or other work locations resulting in changes to the scheduled telecommuting or hybrid work arrangements.



Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain top-secret security clearance.
