As the Student Services Coordinator for the Executive Master of Public Affairs (EMPA) program, you'll play a pivotal role in supporting mid-career professionals from diverse backgrounds as they advance their leadership skills and commitment to public service.

The EMPA program blends in-person residencies in Durham and Washington, D.C., with dynamic online learning experiences. As Student Services Coordinator, you'll provide strategic leadership and hands-on support to ensure every student thrives in this innovative hybrid environment.



What You'll Do:

Program Administration (50%)

Develop and implement policies for smooth academic and student services, manage onboarding, course registration, and graduation processes. Plan and execute in-person residencies and student events, coordinate course scheduling and registration, and collaborate with faculty and staff across Duke.

Student Services and Support (40%)

Advise students on academic policies, troubleshoot challenges, and advocate for their needs across Duke's support services. Maintain student records, track progress toward graduation, and collect feedback to improve program operations.

Financial Management (10%)

Prepare and manage program budgets, oversee event expenses, and process purchases through Duke systems.



Be You - What We're Looking For

Education & Experience:

A Bachelor's degree and at least three years of experience in administration of student records or similar functions at the college or university level. OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. An advanced degree (Master's, Ph.D., or equivalent) is preferred.

Knowledge & Skills:

Attention to detail, customer focus, and ability to maintain confidentiality. Excellent communication skills and sensitivity to diverse cultural backgrounds. Experience with hybrid program administration and student advising. Ability to exercise independent judgment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Familiarity with online learning environments and tools such as Canvas, Stellic, Slate, and PeopleSoft.



Anticipated Pay Range

Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $59,829.00 to USD $88,740.00. Duke University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position; candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills; internal peer equity; as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
