SUMMARY
-
The primary responsibility of the Data Analyst is to collect, explore, analyze, catalog, interpret, and report data related to criminal activities and criminal prosecutions, as well as office workflow. This collection and analysis of data will enable the District Attorney's Office to become more educated about criminal activity and thereby enable the Office to more effectively allocate law enforcement resources. In addition, the collection and reporting of this data will allow this Office to share key statistical information to the public about the criminal legal process, such as crime and enforcement, socioeconomic and demographic factors, court and case processes, crime statistics, and diversionary outcomes. Collecting, analyzing and reporting this data will demonstrate the District Attorney's Office commitment to transparency and improve public trust in law enforcement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Collect, explore, analyze and interpret data related to crime, the criminal legal process, and the criminal justice system.
- Research and identify trends in the data, develop insight and collaborate with others within the area of operation.
- Develop and coordinate internal and external data driven projects.
- Write internal memos on analytical topics, public facing reports and data products, and complete emergent requests and short-deadlines projects as needed.
- Write reports for a variety of audiences, including District Attorney's Office personnel and the public.
- Collaborate with other staff, including Assistant District Attorneys, Deputy District Attorneys, First Assistant District Attorney, and the District Attorney, to share data and gain insights.
- Communicate critical information about crime and the criminal legal system to a wide variety of stakeholders through the County and State government, as well as the public.
- Build a research and data culture at the District Attorney's Office.
- Interface with Assistant District Attorneys, Deputy District Attorneys, and other staff throughout the Office to help guide and inform analytical projects,
- Support internal and external research by engaging in research projects, conducting data collection and dataset creation, and helping to formulate and engage in specific research questions.
- Provide data-driven recommendations to complex legal and policy questions.
- Complete discrete data-driven tasks necessary to support basic District Attorney's Office functions including case management.
- Develop the tools and documentation needed to allow for increased efficiency with future analyses, replication, iteration, and automation.
- Prepare oral, written and graphical presentations for operational output.

- Skilled in the use of Microsoft Products, such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.
- Strong research and information gathering skills.
- Understanding of and experience in the Criminal Justice System.
- Knowledge of District Attorney's Office structure and mission.
- Proficiency in the Office's record management system.
- Successful completion of background and drug screening.
- PA Driver's license.
