The Impact You Will Have

As a member of the corporate strategy team, the Strategy Consultant Principal partners with Corporate Strategy Office leadership and the executive management team to formulate Blue Cross strategic plan, administer the strategic planning process and lead the development of critical business strategies in support of the company's overall strategic direction. The Strategy Consultant works with senior leadership to develop business plans and identify priorities required to achieve strategic objectives and is responsible for collaborating to ensure strategic alignment. This will require the incumbent to leverage prior experiences in defining and shaping healthcare strategies, developing approaches and adapting frameworks to drive strategy development. He/she is a valued thought partner, responsible for facilitating and driving the definition of complex, enterprise strategies.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a valued strategic partner to architect, facilitate and drive complex strategies with Blue Cross executive management team and cross-functional leadership teams.
  • Ensure alignment of business strategies with the company's strategic direction and plan, by facilitating strategic planning sessions with business partners to develop working road maps with key actions, milestones, timelines and accountabilities.
  • Drive development of Blue Cross multi-year corporate strategic plan, business strategy and planning.
  • Develop and adapt various analytical and strategic frameworks in support of business strategy formulation.
  • Perform analysis of existing strategies, business performance, and key initiatives and provide recommendations to address issues and gaps.
  • Develop key strategy communications, presentations and materials tailored to executive management, Board of Directors and key stakeholders.
  • Partner with Market Insights team to create shared understanding of key healthcare industry trends, market dynamics, and competitive landscape to inform business and strategic planning and decisions.
  • Design and help facilitate strategy forums or reviews with executives and senior leadership (deep dive analysis on specific topics, challenges and opportunities, and strategy performance).
  • Assess, monitor, and report on performance of strategic plan using best practice methods and tools to ensure timely action to course correct as needed.
  • Develop and coordinate enterprise-wide strategy engagement, communication and alignment activities.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Strategy or other Strategy leaders.
    Required Skills and Experience:
    • 8+ years of related professional experience. All relevant experience including work, education, transferable skills, and military experience will be considered.
    • Strong knowledge and experience in identifying and recommending alternative business models for cost reduction, revenue growth and margin improvement opportunities.
    • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
    • Strong problem solving skills exhibited by the ability to approach complex, ambiguous business issues with creative ideas and solutions.
    • Excellent PowerPoint skills with the ability to create compelling documents with a clear story line, tailored to executive leadership and key stakeholders.
    • Proven ability to communicate complex issues simply and concisely; tailor style, level and approach to audience; advanced executive level facilitation and presentation skills.
    • Proven ability to establish trust, gain credibility, and build relationships with key constituents (internal leaders and experts across the organization).
    • Ability to navigate ambiguity in a complex, matrixed environment.
    • Must be a strategic thinker, with a high level of intellectual curiosity and openness to change.
    • Self-motivated, takes initiative, and continuously seeks ways to improve.
    • Analytical and detail oriented, with ability to leverage data and analysis to inform strategic decisions and prioritization.
    • Demonstrated track record of results with proven ability to manage multiple priorities within strict and changing timelines.
    • Creativity in developing effective responses and strategies to address competitive challenges.
    • Ideal candidate will have in depth consulting and/or strategy experience within the health care industry.
    • High school diploma (or equivalency) and legal authorization to work in the U.S.
    • Accepting this position at BCBSMN requires signing an Agreement Regarding Non- Disclosure of Confidential Information and Non-Competition as a condition of employment.
    Preferred Skills and Experience:
    • MBA/Master's degree.
    • 5+ years of management consulting and client delivery experience at a leading strategy consulting firm.
    • Demonstrated experience and success in developing and implementing strategies and solutions to evolve consumer experience and business model to a business to consumer (B2C) orientation.
    • 3+ years combined experience in health care, pharmacy, retail health, medical device, or consumer goods.

    Compensation and Benefits:

    Pay Range: $117,800.00 - $159,000.00 - $200,200.00 Annual

    Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position, including skills, ability, and knowledge the selected individual is bringing to the specific job.

    Our hybrid approach is designed to balance flexibility with meaningful in-person connection and collaboration. We come together in the office two days each week - most teams designate at least one anchor day to ensure team interaction. These in-person moments foster relationships, creativity, and alignment. The rest of the week you are empowered to work remote.
