This position will also assist in the business analysis of new and existing terminals to ensure our retail footprint strategy remains aligned with the overall business strategy for Hunt Asphalt. This includes working closely with the Planning Department to provide forecasts and receive feedback around asphalt margins and profitability which is then meshed into the Asphalt Strategy.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.




  • Directly manage asphalt logistics to ensure terminals are efficiently supplied to meet customer's demand
  • while minimizing working capital commitments.
  • Coordinate terminal supply of asphalt and supporting additives, polymer, etc. with terminal personnel,
  • Asphalt Territory Managers and refinery personnel to maintain stable supply at terminals and refineries.
  • Provide supervisory responsibilities for Asphalt Marketing Analyst. Ensure this position is adequately
  • supported both now and the future to provide unrivaled customer support to customer's back-office
  • employees and the front-line customers interfacing with the Sales Directors and Territory Managers.
  • Provide ongoing P&L analysis to assess areas to enhance margins for the retail asphalt business.
  • Optimizing supply chain logistics is a key area where margins can be improved. This position is directly
  • responsible for logistics and has a unique capability to make a material impact in the overall business
  • performance through his/her efforts.
  • Provide engineering and technical support for HRC and HSRC-owned asphalt terminals, where needed.
  • Manage small capital projects for HRC / HSRC asphalt terminals and follow progress and construction of
  • projects as leased terminals as required.
  • Manage the review and approval of terminal expenses which average over $20MM annually and identify
  • ways to optimize the business to enhance margins.
  • Work with the Asphalt Technical Center (ATC) to optimize chemical usage and manage the $7MM+
  • annual spend on chemicals, polymers, and blend stocks.
  • Coordinate asphalt shipments and movements with refinery and logistics personnel.
  • Optimize logistics costs associated with transport of asphalt to terminals which averages over $25MM
  • annually.
  • Work with yield accounting to develop and follow barrels around terminals.
  • Participate in collecting market intelligence on wholesale asphalt pricing and inventory levels in pertinent geographic areas.
  • Work with ATC Technical Supervisor to resolve quality or blending issues associated with wholesale asphalt sales or purchases.
  • Assist with collection of market data and intelligence for evaluation of new or existing terminal opportunities.
  • Provide support as necessary for evaluation of new business opportunities.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with other departments of Company in order to promote the efficient administration of marketing function.
  • Some travel will be required. Position is expected to visit the terminals and attend Asphalt Industry
  • Events as directed.



EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in engineering with three or more years of experience or a bachelor's degree in business or related major with ten or more years of related experience. Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and the analysis of numbers.
