What You'll do: Groundswell is seeking a Lead Agile Release Train (ART) Engineer/Advanced Scrum Master to support a mission-critical Department of Defense SAP program. This role serves as the senior SAFe execution leader responsible for driving alignment, delivery predictability, and continuous improvement across a large-scale SAP Agile Release Train (ART). Operating within the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), the ART Engineer partners closely with Product Management, SAP functional and technical leadership, Scrum Masters, and government stakeholders to ensure disciplined execution while meeting DoD governance, security, and contractual requirements Key Responsibilities
Lead and facilitate all ART-level ceremonies, including PI Planning, ART Sync, Scrum of Scrums, System Demos, and Inspect & Adapt, ensuring disciplined execution and accountability Drive end-to-end program execution across multiple SAP teams by managing cross-team dependencies, release sequencing, and delivery risks Partner with Product Management, System Architects, SAP functional and technical leads, and program leadership to align delivery with DoD mission objectives and contractual commitments Act as the primary escalation point for ART-level risks, impediments, and dependency conflicts; drive resolution across organizational and vendor boundaries Provide oversight and guidance to Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and Agile leaders, increasing SAFe maturity and execution consistency across the ART Ensure integrated SAP release planning across functional areas (e.g., S/4HANA, finance, logistics, HR, integrations, custom development) while maintaining solution integrity Deliver clear, concise communication to government and contractor stakeholders regarding progress, risks, delivery predictability, and outcomes Ensure Agile execution aligns with DoD governance, compliance, security, and reporting requirements Facilitate Inspect & Adapt activities and leverage delivery metrics (flow, predictability, quality) to drive continuous performance improvement
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or related field Ability to obtain and maintain Secret level security clearance. Preference will be given to candidates who possess an active DOD clearance. 10+ years of experience in IT delivery, program management, or Agile leadership roles 3-5+ years of experience operating within SAFe at scale, including hands-on experience as a Release Train Engineer or equivalent role 2+ years Agile software development experience Proven experience leading large, complex programs involving SAP implementations or sustainment Demonstrated experience supporting DoD or federal government programs Strong executive-level facilitation, communication, and stakeholder management skills Ability to operate effectively in highly regulated, security-focused environments This is a remote role with travel as required to support the program (Conferences or meetings - expect less than 10%)
Preferred Qualifications
SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE) and/or SAFe Advanced Scrum Master (SASM) certification Experience with SAP S/4HANA implementations SAP Experience in one or more of the following areas: Budget, FM, FI, CM, PS, CO, PPS, Payments, MM, SD, PS, SCM, D&S, QM, BTP.

The salary range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Groundswell, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is: $102,213.00 - $180,783.00
