Job Description




As a Security Officer - Substation Gatehouse in Gibsonton, FL, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Utilities, and more. As an Allied Universal Security Officer at a utilities location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, conduct routine rounds, and remain visible to help reduce security-related incidents. You will document activity, respond to requests, and deliver customer service through clear communication, using a computer and/or tablet as needed. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to personnel and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a utilities location.
  • Control access to restricted areas by verifying identification, managing visitor entry, issuing temporary badges as directed, and directing visitors to the proper contact.
  • Monitor alarms, cameras, and other security-related systems; document unusual activity and notify site contacts and/or emergency services when required.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including medical calls, fire alarms, equipment incidents, and unauthorized access concerns.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of buildings, yards, parking areas, and perimeter lines to help to deter unauthorized activity and identify hazards, damage, and/or maintenance concerns.
  • Perform vehicle and/or delivery checks in accordance with site procedures, including verifying paperwork, directing traffic flow, and reporting irregularities.
  • Complete detailed reports on shift activity, incidents, and observations; maintain accurate logs for gates, keys, and equipment as assigned.
  • Provide assistance during outages, severe weather, and other operational disruptions by supporting site access control, staging areas, and communications per post orders.
  • Communicate professionally with employees, contractors, visitors, and local responders; escalate concerns through the chain of command.
  • Follow all Allied Universal policies and site post orders, including confidentiality requirements and standards for appearance and conduct.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A guard card and/or license is preferred.
  • Being comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
