Job Description




As a Security Officer - Healthcare Screening in Lansing, MI, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Healthcare, and more. As an Allied Universal officer in a healthcare location, you will focus on access control by greeting staff and visitors, verifying credentials, managing entry points, and documenting activity. You will conduct routine patrols of assigned areas, stay visible to help reduce security-related incidents, and communicate clearly with the site team during day-to-day operations. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to patients, visitors, vendors, and staff by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Control access at designated entrances by verifying identification, credentials, and authorization prior to entry.
  • Issue, collect, and account for visitor passes and temporary badges while maintaining accurate access logs.
  • Direct visitors to approved destinations and communicate arrival information to the appropriate department or point of contact.
  • Monitor and respond to door alarms, access control alerts, and surveillance systems as assigned, escalating concerns per site procedures.
  • Screen bags, packages, and deliveries per site policy and coordinate with clinical and/or administrative staff regarding restricted items.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including assisting with de-escalation until additional resources arrive.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the facility, parking areas, and perimeter as assigned. Working environments and conditions may vary by location.
  • Assist with controlled-area entry procedures for sensitive locations such as patient care units, pharmacies, laboratories, and other restricted spaces per site policy.
  • Complete reports and documentation for incidents, access issues, and unusual activity, and communicate updates through the established chain of command.
  • Support patient privacy expectations by limiting access to non-public areas to authorized individuals and redirecting unauthorized persons as needed.
  • Participate in drills and respond to emergency events such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, severe weather, or evacuation activities per site procedures.
  • Coordinate with local law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical services when requested by site leadership or Allied Universal supervision.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
