Job Description




As a Security Officer - Armed Federal Patrol in Queens, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. As an Armed Patrol Officer at a government transportation location, you will conduct routine patrols of stations and surrounding areas, stay highly visible to help reduce security-related incidents, and respond to concerns with calm, clear communication and customer service. You will document activity, support emergency response efforts, and work closely with site personnel. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to clients by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including medical situations, disputes, suspicious activity, and service disruptions.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols throughout government transportation locations and the perimeter, including public areas, restricted areas, and employee-only spaces; working environments and conditions may vary by site.
  • Carry and maintain assigned duty weapon and related equipment in accordance with all licensing requirements, post orders, and Allied Universal policies, including conducting required function checks and securing equipment when not in use.
  • Help to deter prohibited activity through high-visibility armed presence, proactive engagement, and timely reporting of observed conditions.
  • Monitor cameras, alarms, and other security-related systems as assigned, and communicate observations via radio and/or phone using required protocols.
  • Control access to restricted areas by verifying credentials, directing visitors and vendors, and documenting entries and/or deliveries per site procedures.
  • Support passenger flow and crowd management during peak periods and special events by providing directions, de-escalating conflicts, and coordinating with site staff.
  • Initiate appropriate response actions during alarms and emergencies, including assisting with evacuations, setting perimeters, and coordinating with law enforcement and/or emergency services.
  • Prepare detailed incident reports, activity logs, and evidence documentation in a timely manner, including accurate descriptions of people, actions, and locations.
  • Conduct security-related inspections of doors, gates, stairwells, corridors, platforms, and other assigned areas, reporting hazards, damage, and maintenance needs through established channels.
  • Participate in briefings, drills, and required training, and follow chain-of-command instructions while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Possess proof of a high school diploma and/or GED as required by the client.
  • Possess a Law Enforcement Officer License.
  • An armed guard card and/or license is preferred.
  • Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
