Executive Summary (What They're Building): They're building a security platform that sits in the identity and authentication layer and uses AI signals to help make smarter access and security decisions. The work is focused on backend systems, not UI or experimentation. In short: They're operationalizing AI inside identity and access systems, wrapping it in secure Java platforms so it can safely run at enterprise scale. Executive Summary (Java Developers): This role is focused on building core backend Java services in the identity and authentication layer. The developers are creating secure, always-on platforms that enforce authentication, authorization, and policy decisions, while integrating AI-driven risk signals into those controls. This is not UI or research work - it's production security infrastructure that must be auditable, reliable, and compliant. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Location: Chicago, IL - required to be onsite 5 days a week Come join an exciting team that is responsible for cyber security innovation and architecture, engineering, solutions and capabilities development, cyber resiliency, access management engineering, data strategy, deployment maintenance, technical project management and information technology security control support. This role, as an individual contributor is responsible for delivering best-in-class technology solutions in Identity and Authentication domain. A strong candidate for this role will demonstrate past performance of delivering innovative products. A candidate for this position should be able to demonstrate strong proficiency in area of expertise and complex problem-solving skills. They should have a strong understanding of current development practices, and they should demonstrate a history of ownership to accomplish outcomes. Key responsibilities of the role include technical ownership, software developing, delivering features based on their knowledge of design/architectural patterns and Agile/DevOps practices. This role ensures the systems design and requirements are aligned to achieve the desired business outcomes, and that team practices and coding/quality principles are aligned to achieve the desired technology outcomes. A good candidate must understand secure coding practices. A candidate must have significant experience through multiple software implementations and have developed demonstrate strong technical competencies. Primary Level of Engagement: Works as a highly experienced developer under minimum supervision from a domain expert. Primary Interactions: Product Owner Business Owner Scrum Master Development Team Architect Testing Release Train Engineer Key Responsibilities: * Design, develop and be accountable for feature delivery. * Apply enterprise standards for solution design, coding, and quality. * Ensure solution meets product acceptance criteria with minimal technical debt. * Responsible for compliance and security items and audit support. * Act as a liaison for production activities/issues. * Participate in work breakdown and execution. * Play a team member role, as an individual contributor. * Mentor other team members whenever required. * Participate in planning & estimation, peer reviews and other engineering practices. * Identify skill and role gaps, and work with Technology Manager to address them. * Patriciate in creating resource contingency plans where required. * Oversee detailed execution of assigned deliverable at every level - Requirements gathering, technical design, build and quality assurance. Required Skills: * Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, engineering, or a related field with 7+ years of experience in building large scape Java applications. * Strong skills in design and developing robust RESTAPI and Micro Services. Proficiency in Spring/SpringBoot. * Strong hands-on experience in Identity & Authentication technologies including OAuth2/OIDC, SAML, FIDO/WebAuthn, PKI, and LDAP. Working knowledge of digital credentials and digital wallet. * Extensive knowledge and experience working with SQL, Stored Procedures, and Oracle DB data replication and performance tuning. * Experience in building solutions using cloud-based services. Familiarity with cloud security. * Working experience in remediating application security vulnerabilities, CVEs. * Skilled in using CI/CD tool set (JIRA/Bitbucket/Jenkins/Artifactory/Ansible) * Proficiency in development in Unix/Linux environment * Proficiency developing in container-based architecture. * Experience in UI development with React or similar framework. * Self-motived individual with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. * Ability to lead large & complex tasks including product upgrades and deployment of new capabilities and enhancements. * Ability to work in a highly visible and fast-paced environment where business needs/priorities may change. * Strong written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Skills: * Familiarity with containerization, OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker. * Experience integrating with AI/LLM models into Java applications using the Model Context Protocol (MCP).
