Overview

Azure Specialized Clouds delivers advanced edge platforms, devices, and services that enable the next generation of operational AI across industrial environments. The Digital Operations product team builds capabilities that connect physical operations to Azure, bringing together real time data, computer vision, agentic AI, and highly available edge infrastructure.

We are looking for a Principal Product Manager to drive Edge AI innovation with a focus on manufacturing and operational anomaly detection. This role blends customer insight, technical depth, and product shaping to accelerate how customers adopt Azure's industrial edge capabilities.

As a Principal Product Manager in the Digital Operations Product Team, you will own the product lifecycle for Operational/Industrial Edge AI capabilities. You will partner directly with engineering, applied AI, and field teams to define workflows, design features, validate feasibility, and deliver impactful capabilities rooted in real customer needs.This role requires excellent customer fluency, technical depth in edge and industrial systems, and the ability to turn complex customer signals into clear product direction.

Responsibilities
Product Strategy & Customer Insight
  • Own product direction for Edge AI scenarios including anomaly detection, predictive maintenance, industrial vision, analytics, and agentic operations.
  • Engage directly with manufacturing and industrial customers to understand operational constraints, use cases, and value drivers.
  • Translate customer feedback into clear product requirements and roadmap priorities.

Edge AI Solution Design

  • Define end to end workflows for deploying and managing Edge AI workloads across Azure IoT Operations, AKS Edge Essentials, Arc enabled Kubernetes, and on premises environments.
  • Shape capabilities for model deployment, data flows, AI pipeline orchestration, and lifecycle management at the edge.
  • Partner with engineering to validate feasibility, performance, and reliability requirements.

Execution & Feature Delivery

  • Drive definition and delivery of new Edge AI features, including detection models, inference pipelines, observability, protocols, and device interactions.
  • Collaborate with engineering, applied AI, and partner teams to ensure product capabilities meet industrial-grade requirements.
  • Support quality, release readiness, and field enablement for new features.

Cross Team Leadership

  • Work across Digital Operations, Azure Specialized Clouds, and partner ecosystems to ensure aligned roadmap execution.
  • Define integration points with services such as Azure IoT Hub, Azure Device Registry, Fabric Real Time Intelligence, and Digital Operations Experience.
  • Contribute to field readiness content, training materials, demos, and internal briefings.

Thought Leadership & Enablement

  • Simplify complex industrial scenarios into clear product narratives and repeatable patterns.
  • Develop best practices for scaling Edge AI deployments in manufacturing environments.
  • Influence broader


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development OR equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience delivering AI or ML solutions-especially edge deployed inference, computer vision, or operational anomaly detection.
* Proven track record driving customer engaged product development cycles with complex technical solutions.
* Background in industrial IoT, manufacturing, energy, or operational technology.
* Ability to synthesize ambiguous customer feedback into actionable product direction.
* Effective communication and collaboration skills in multi disciplinary engineering teams.

Product Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $139,900 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
