Summary Job Description: 2A ICU is a 21-bed medical/surgical ICU serving high acuity medical ICU patients. The unit population is cardiac interventions, SARS, Cardiogenic shock, Rotoprone, Post-partum critical care patients and complex care ICU patients most of which have a medical or cardiac diagnosis. ICU Registered Nurse Part-Time, Days Job Description: The Registered Nurse (RN) implements professional nursing practice centered on the patient as a whole person and the creation of a caring environment focused on healing and wellness.
- S/he honors patients' mind, body and spirit by respecting human dignity and the uniqueness of each individual.
- Nursing practices are based on evidence and current research as well as hospital and department policies and procedures, regulatory standards, and professional guidelines.
- Clinical decision-making incorporates all four phases of the nursing process, critical thinking, and creativity.
- Nursing excellence is promoted through helping relationships among nursing staff and across other disciplines.
- R is an exemplar for compassion, acceptance, respect, and empathy honoring nursing as a distinct discipline and supporting an environment focused on healing and wellness.
- As a clinical nurse, this individual spends majority of his/her time (> 50%) coordinating, ensuring, and providing direct patient care activities on the unit through: provision of nursing rounds, assessments and treatments; facilitating admission, transfer and discharge activities; provision of patient and family-centered education, care coordination and individualized treatment planning as applicable, etc.
Requirements:
- Current RN licensure or work permit in Kentucky.
- Bachelor's or an associate degree in nursing from an accredited college/university.
- Those with an associate degree in nursing and less than 10 years of experience must enroll within 12 months of hire in a bachelor's degree program and musthave achieved the degree within 5 years.
- Basic Life Support- Applicants will have 30 days from their hired date to provide completion of this certification if they don't have it already.
- ACLS/PALS/NRP and successful completion of dysrhythmia class as required by department of Assignment.
