Position Summary: Job Responsibilities: Leads the administrative oversight of NYU Langone Hospital - Long Island Emergency Dept. *Budget Preparation - Prepares annual operating budget according to established finance guidelinesand explains, in detail, how each item is derived in the budget. Maintains budget performancerelative to target. Reviews monthly finance reports and makes certain that all entries are correct,rectifies any noted discrepancies, and explains any variances. Monitors revenue and expenses on amonthly basis and prepares financial analysis for leadership review. *Policies and Procedures - In conjunction with departmental leadership, establishes and administerspolicies and procedures for Emergency Services. Ensures policies and procedures are kept up todate. Establishes systems to communicate any policy or procedural change to all departmental staffand other medical center personnel as required. Understands what the departmental goals are andsets objectives in order to reach them .*Financial Management - Participates in cost control activities by seeking the most effective methodof delivering services. Works with Finance department and/or outside vendors to establish anappropriate billing system. Monitors the effectiveness of the billing system and recommendsadjustments accordingly. Evaluates, develops and implements appropriate system changes asneeded. Identifies, recommends and implements changes and initiatives to create value, andcommunicates system changes. *Regulatory Compliance - Ensures compliance with all regulatory guidelines and accreditationstandards. Ensures adherence to the applicable standards for the Joint Commission on accreditationof Hospitals as well as applicable Federal, State, and City regulations, makes recommendations forperiodic changes as needed. Adequately maintains an environment of survey readiness. Ensuresdepartmental policies and procedures are in compliance with all applicable regulations andstandards. Ensures staff has completed required mandatory compliance trainings. Communicates regulatory changes to all staff in collaboration emergency department leadership. *Quality Assurance - Monitors and maintains an operational quality assurance program. Reviewsdepartment's services on a regular basis to ensure the quality of services. Maintains thoroughdocumentation of quality assurance activities. Utilizes audit results, quality assurance reports andincident reports to improve quality of services. Manages performance improvement projectsrelated to quality. Reports to departmental QA meeting on a monthly basis. *Patient Satisfaction - Monitors and improves patient satisfaction. Develops and implementsprograms to enhance patient experience. Reviews and responds to patient complaints incoordination with the patient experience office. Monitors patient satisfaction surveys toidentify opportunities for improvement, recommends changes, and implements correctiveaction. Works collaboratively with other departments to assure an optimum patient experience .*Data Management- Tracks and trends all operational, quality and patient satisfaction metrics, andidentifies opportunities for improvement. Produces regular reports for leadership aroundoperations of the emergency department, and presents at leadership forums as indicated.*Performs other duties as assigned. NYU Langone Health Emergency Medical Services' (EMS) responsibilities: *Meets regularly with the Vice President of Support Services, Emergency Medical ServicesManager, and the Medical Chief of EMS regarding major policies affecting the administrationof the department, capital equipment needs, and personnel to recommend improvementsand changes as appropriate *Serves as liaison for EMS billing activities and electronic billing operations with EMS leadership(interfaces with NYU Langone Health's Accounts Payable Department) for monthly reporting andfinancial improvements / compliance *Review and implement strategic plans for ambulance service location with EMS leadership andhospital operations *Establishes priorities for anticipated department requirements for each fiscal year; assists with thepreparation of annual budget information/revisions, and monitors operation expenditures for fiscalcompliance *Review and approve community programs with the EMS leadership such as health fairs,community festivals, offering free blood pressure, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, educatingchildren on bicycle safety and the 911 emergency system *Assists the Manager of EMS with the development/monitoring of performance metrics,implement operational changes to achieve targets Additional Position Specific Responsibilities: Minimum Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications: Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization. NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $111,252.50 - $191,910.58 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
