Equipment Operator An Equipment Operator is responsible for operating various types of heavy machinery, such as bulldozers, excavators, cranes, and forklifts, to perform tasks on construction sites, warehouses, or industrial settings. Their duties include moving, loading, unloading, and transporting materials, as well as preparing and maintaining job sites. They must ensure the proper functioning of equipment by conducting regular inspections and performing basic maintenance tasks. The role requires adherence to safety protocols, effective communication with team members, and the ability to work efficiently under varying environmental conditions. - Safely operate various types of heavy equipment, such as excavators, forklifts, cranes, backhoes, and bulldozers, depending on the industry and project needs.
- Perform routine inspections of equipment before use to ensure safety and operational efficiency.
- Report any mechanical issues or malfunctions for maintenance.
- Use equipment to move, load, and unload materials at construction sites, warehouses, or manufacturing plants. Ensure proper placement and storage of materials.
- Adherent to safety standards and protocols to prevent accidents and injuries while operating equipment. Ensure the equipment is used in compliance with all safety regulations.
- Keep accurate records of equipment usage, maintenance, and repairs, as well as any relevant operational data, to ensure equipment longevity and performance.
- Work closely with other workers, such as laborers, engineers, and supervisors, to complete projects efficiently and according to plan.
- Conduct minor maintenance tasks, such as greasing, cleaning, and fueling the equipment, to ensure it remains in good working condition.
- Assess site conditions, such as terrain or obstacles, and adjust equipment operation accordingly to ensure safety and optimal efficiency.
- Help prepare sites for construction by clearing debris, leveling surfaces, or digging trenches as necessary using appropriate equipment.
- Ensure that all work conducted complies with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company policies regarding environmental impact, safety, and quality.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Equipment Operator Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
- Must have experience operating rough terrain, extend-a-boom 12,000lb. The successful applicant will be required to pass a hands-on and written Forklift operator's test.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, drawings and technical descriptions.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions and must be able to use an inventory system.
- Interpersonal skills; patience; problem solving skills; attention to detail; organization skills; accuracy; time management; basic math skills.
- Proficiency in operating a variety of heavy machinery such as excavators, cranes, backhoes, forklifts, bulldozers, and other construction or industrial equipment.
- Strong knowledge of safety procedures and regulations to prevent accidents, ensure safe machine operation, and maintain a safe working environment.
- Ability to understand and perform basic maintenance tasks, troubleshoot issues, and report more complex mechanical problems to the maintenance team.
- Precision in operating machinery to ensure tasks are completed accurately, such as moving materials, leveling surfaces, or digging trenches.
- Ability to assess challenging worksite conditions and adapt equipment operation techniques to meet the demands of various situations.
- Must be able to pass licensing for equipment operating.
- Flack Equipment may be required.
