This is a high-impact, high-visibility engineering leadership role requiring deep technical expertise, regulatory knowledge, and strong field experience managing environmental remediation efforts.

You will guide the project from planning through full execution, working closely with federal, state, and local agencies - including the EPA - while advising senior leadership on technical strategy, risk mitigation, and regulatory compliance.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the full lifecycle of a large-scale landfill remediation and restoration project.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with the EPA, state agencies, local authorities, community stakeholders, and internal leadership.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
  • Develop and manage detailed project budgets, schedules, scopes of work, and contractor deliverables.
  • Supervise and coordinate multiple contractors, subcontractors, and technical consultants.
  • Oversee field operations to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient execution of remedial actions, monitoring, and site restoration.
  • Interpret environmental, waste, and engineering data, including risk assessments and technical reports.
  • Review and approve project documentation such as remedial designs, health and safety plans, monitoring reports, and work plans.
  • Anticipate, identify, and mitigate project risks through proactive planning and technical problem-solving.
  • Provide clear, persuasive communication to regulatory partners, community groups, and executive leadership.
  • Act as a strategic advisor on project direction, regulatory matters, and engineering decisions.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive environmental project management experience, including CERCLA/Superfund or complex remediation projects.
  • Extensive field-based experience with contaminated site mitigation and landfill systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations and guidance.
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple contractors simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing and stakeholder engagement.
  • Strong strategic decision-making and leadership skills.
  • OSHA 40Hour HAZWOPER (current refresher preferred).
  • PE, PG, CHMM, or similar credential is a plus.
  • Experience with landfill GCCS systems, flare performance, HS treatment, and hazardous liquid compliance is strongly preferred.

Preferred Attributes

  • Experience managing Superfund projects from RI/FS through RD/RA stages.
  • Familiarity with EPA processes, public meeting facilitation, and community engagement.
  • Demonstrated success delivering projects under high regulatory visibility and scrutiny.
