A healthcare organization is seeking a Billing Specialist / Insurance Billing Specialist to support billing and reimbursement operations within a hospital setting. This role focuses on insurance claim processing, follow-up, and collections, working closely with payers, patients, and internal departments to ensure accurate and timely reimbursement. This position is well-suited for a detail-oriented professional with experience in healthcare billing and insurance processes who thrives in a structured, onsite environment. Key Responsibilities * Communicate with patients, insurance companies, government agencies, and third-party payers to gather, process, and document information required for appropriate reimbursement * Review, correct, and submit insurance claims in accordance with payer requirements and established guidelines * Research unpaid, denied, or underpaid claims and obtain necessary information to resolve reimbursement issues * Initiate and manage collection actions for past-due accounts and denied claims, ensuring appropriate follow-up * Collaborate with internal departments to obtain charge details, coding updates, and supporting documentation for claim appeals * Calculate and process write-offs, debit/credit adjustments, and account corrections * Meet or exceed established productivity and quality performance standards * Provide general administrative and office support related to billing operations * Perform other job-related duties as assigned Qualifications * High School Diploma or GED -* Required* * Epic Billing Experience - Required * Associate's or Technical Degree, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience * Experience with medical billing and collections * Healthcare insurance billing experience Ideal Candidate Profile * Working knowledge of healthcare billing and reimbursement processes * Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple accounts * Comfortable following established procedures and daily work instructions * Effective communicator with internal teams and external payers * Reliable, organized, and able to work fully onsite Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Portland, OR. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $22.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
