Job Summary

The General Laborer is responsible for safely handling materials and finished products in support of manufacturing operations. This role verifies that material meets customer requirements and company expectations, follows established work instructions, and helps maintain a clean, safe, and organized production environment. The General Laborer works under immediate supervision and follows specific direction from leads and supervisors.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Move, handle, and secure material and finished products according to instructions and standard operating procedures.

  • Stack finished products according to predetermined bundle sizes and/or customer requirements.

  • Label material based on specifications such as type, size, and count.

  • Apply individual tags to material before and/or after treating or production, as required.

  • Use a staple gun and other basic tools; perform simple troubleshooting of tagging or strapping equipment.

  • Band, bundle, and secure material, including attaching corner protectors and loading sticks.

  • Follow instructions for stacking material properly in accordance with company policy, safety guidelines, and customer requirements.

  • Ensure correct quantities and material are strapped, tagged, and labeled before leaving the work area.

  • Maintain accurate inventory of tags and promptly report any problems or discrepancies to a supervisor.

  • Record production information on production sheets or in designated systems.

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area, including housekeeping in assigned zones.

  • Assist other work areas by moving material, loading and unloading material carts, and supporting general production needs.

  • Participate in safety, continuous improvement (CI), and other plant programs and meetings.

  • Follow all company safety rules, procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.

  • No minimum experience required; prior manufacturing, warehouse, or lumber/composite handling experience preferred.

  • Working knowledge of basic math preferred.

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English.

  • Ability to perform physical work, including standing for extended periods, lifting, stacking, and moving material as required.

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

Salary Pay Range:$17.00-$19.00 per hour dependent on experience*
*pay range may be adjusted depending on cost of living

Bonus/Incentive Pay: Incentive pay may be available for certain job roles and may include piece rate incentives, weekly production bonuses, and trip rate bonuses. A discretionary annual bonus based on Company and business unit performance may also be provided.
