Overview

VTG is looking for an Agile Release Engineer in Chantilly, VA. (Note: Contingent upon program award).

Agile Release Engineer I supports Agile Release Train (ART) execution by assisting with coordination, metrics, and SAFe ceremony support under the guidance of a senior ARE or RTE.

Agile Release Engineer II leads Agile Release execution activities, ensuring coordination, predictability, and alignment across teams, stakeholders, and mission objectives.

Agile Release Engineer III provides execution leadership across complex Agile Release Trains, ensuring disciplined delivery, mission alignment, and continuous improvement at scale.


What will you do?

Agile Release Engineer I

  • Support ARTlevel ceremonies including PI Planning, Scrum of Scrums, System Demos, and Inspect & Adapt events
  • Assist with tracking crossteam dependencies, risks, and impediments
  • Maintain Agile execution artifacts and metrics (PI objectives, velocity, predictability)
  • Support Agile tooling administration (e.g., Jira, Confluence)
  • Coordinate schedules, action items, and communications across teams
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and SAFe best practices adoption

Agile Release Engineer II

  • Facilitate and manage ARTlevel ceremonies including PI Planning, Scrum of Scrums, and Inspect & Adapt
  • Identify, track, and drive resolution of crossteam dependencies and impediments
  • Partner with Product Management, System Architects, and Business Owners to align priorities and delivery
  • Maintain and report execution metrics, risks, and outcomes to government stakeholders
  • Ensure adherence to SAFe execution processes and cadences
  • Support integration planning and release coordination across teams
  • Coach teams and leaders on effective Agile execution

Agile Release Engineer III

  • Lead endtoend Agile Release execution across one or more ARTs

  • Serve as the primary execution interface to government leadership and senior stakeholders

  • Drive PI Planning, roadmap synchronization, and release predictability

  • Identify systemic risks, dependencies, and execution bottlenecks and lead resolution efforts

  • Establish and mature Agile execution metrics, governance, and best practices

  • Mentor junior and midlevel Agile Release Engineers and Scrum Masters

  • Support executive briefings, program reviews, and strategic planning activities

  • Enable continuous improvement and Agile maturity across the organization


Do you have what it takes?

  • TS/SCI with Poly Required

Agile Release Engineer I

  • 1-4 years of experience supporting Agile or program delivery efforts
  • Foundational understanding of SAFe and Agile principles
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, IT, Business, or related field
  • Preferred Qualifications: Exposure to PI Planning or largescale Agile programs, Experience supporting federal, DoD, or IC programs, SAFe Agilist, SAFe Practitioner, or equivalent certification

Agile Release Engineer II

  • 5-9 years of Agile delivery, program management, or release coordination experience
    Handson experience in SAFe environments supporting ART execution
    Strong understanding of PI Planning, dependency management, and release coordination
    Excellent facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, IT, Business, or related field
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience supporting IC, DoD, or DOJ mission programs, Experience operating in multivendor or distributed Agile environments, SAFe Agilist, SAFe RTE, or equivalent certification

Agile Release Engineer III

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred
  • 10+ years of Agile delivery, program execution, or systems integration experience
  • Extensive experience supporting SAFe Agile Release Trains
  • Proven ability to lead complex, missioncritical Agile programs
  • Strong leadership, facilitation, and executivelevel communication skills
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience supporting IC, DoD, or DOJ mission programs, Experience supporting multiple ARTs or largescale SAFe implementations, SAFe RTE, SAFe SPC, or advanced SAFe certification
