The Buyer I supports both direct and indirect procurement activities for ACIST Medical Systems product development programs. This role assists with supplier quoting and communication, data entry in SAP and SmartSheet, parts delivery coordination, and general support of the product development process to enable smooth transitions from development to production. This role collaborates cross-functionally with R&D/engineering, quality, operations, accounting, and supply chain to help ensure timely material availability, accurate data entry, and support of cost and delivery targets for product development programs.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Tactical Procurement (70%)

  • Create, review, and process Purchase Requisitions for direct and indirect procurement.

  • Resolve any issues related to purchase orders, goods receipts, and invoices for direct and indirect procurement.

  • Support communication between sourcing, R&D, operations engineering, finance, quality, and manufacturing for product programs.

  • Set up new suppliers in BMT systems and maintain the Approved Supplier List (ASL).

  • Coordinate Certificates of Conformity (CoCs) for incoming shipments.

  • Track supplier delivery schedules and follow up on late or at-risk deliveries.

  • Coordinate track and report status of open action items in SmartSheet, such as engineering requisitions for tooling, prototype, and field test parts.

  • Ensure that SAP is updated accordingly (suppliers, lead times, costs, quotes, etc.) as parts are released from engineering.

  • Communicate tooling lead time and status of all parts, tooled or standard.

  • Coordinating the RTV process for product development parts.

  • Support analysis and planning for pre-production and production parts from inputs including but not limited to: Sales forecasts, Production plans, Planning Worksheets, Commodity lead times, Safety Stock requirements, Lot Sizes, Service part needs etc.

Sourcing Support (20%)

  • Provide support to Product Development sourcing activities.

  • Coordinate with Strategic Sourcing in identifying reliable sources and request bids. Summarize quotes and prepare summary information for sourcing decision-making.

  • Support the sourcing and procurement requirements of multiple product development design teams.

  • Assist with of build vs. buy evaluations.

  • Request supplier information for NDA generation, coordinate with Legal, route through DocuSign.

  • Order samples and prototype materials for product development testing.

  • Support pricing negotiation and create competitive bidding situations where possible to ensure lowest total cost.

  • Support the purchasing portion of Product Development Process (PDP). Participate in phase/gate reviews, including confirmation of supplier selection and approval, leadtime, and accurate standard costs.

  • Remain flexible and adapt quickly to changes in business priorities with minimal disruption.

Supplier Performance Management (10%)

  • Monitor supplier performance for quality, delivery, lead time, and cost during pre-production phases.

  • Support development of suppliers to assure capacity and deliveries are capable to meet long-term manufacturing requirements.

  • Maintain effective supplier relationships through regular communication, issue resolution, and identification of continuous improvement opportunities related to cost, quality, and delivery.

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):

Minimum

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Operations, or Finance PLUS a minimum of 1 year of experience in Supply Chain or Operations.

  • In lieu of Bachelor's degree, a high school diploma PLUS a minimum of 4 yrs of relevant experience may also be considered.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills and ability to develop and maintain relationships across all levels both within and outside of the organization.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).

  • Demonstrated strong systems and business process knowledge of ERP / MRP / PLM systems.

  • Attention to detail, strong organization skills, and follow-through.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and timelines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to adhere to work/quality procedures to ensure quality system compliance.

Preferred:

  • Experience in medical device or regulated industry

  • Experience with supplier communication or quoting

  • Knowledgeable in Supply Chain requirements of ISO 13485

  • Knowledge of engineering drawings or technical specifications

  • Strong working knowledge of SAP is preferred

  • Working knowledge of SmartSheet or similar project tracking systems

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $67,000 - 73,000

*Estimated Starting Salary Range is reflective of the range Bracco Medical Technologies reasonably expects to pay for the position. The range provided is based on salary and market data specific to the position.
