The Office accomplishes its mission by convening with academic and research leaders, providing integrated, user-focused resources, services, and tools, and partnering with faculty.
Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking an Administrative Coordinator for the Office for Research. The position reports to the Vice President of Research Administration and the RA executive leadership team.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:

  • Serves as a critical support position for the department.
  • Supports the confidential administrative needs of the Vice President, Assistant VPs and Executive Directors in Research Administration.
  • Plan and coordinates the department's events and provides office administration including extensive calendaring, drafting of correspondence and travel arrangements.
  • Works with a keen focus on detail, excellent organization and coordination skills and an ownership mindset.
  • Maintains effective knowledge of all relevant resources and services available within the university.
  • Acts as liaison and maintains collaborative relationships with Rutgers central administration, university staff and administrators.
  • Works under direct supervision, with specific instructions on routine or semi routine work and within established work parameters for the unit.
  • Performs professional work that requires knowledge of general administrative/office management practices and the basic application and use of concepts, theories, and terminology of unit administration.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications






Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • At least two (2) years of experience in administrative or executive support.

Certifications/Licenses
  • A valid driver's license would be required for this position.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to be a self-starter, detail-and solutions-oriented, an effective communicator both in writing and verbally and to possess excellent organization skills.
  • Experience handling multiple competing priorities with competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Working knowledge Microsoft Outlook and the Microsoft Office suite of applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with or knowledge of Rutgers' internal structure, policies and procedures.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Must be willing and able to lift up to 25 lbs.
