Full-Time/Regular STGi is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to provide services to our Georgia Ware Veterans Home. JOB SUMMARY: The primary purpose of this position is to maintain the grounds, facility and equipment in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with current applicable federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations, established facility policies and procedures and as directed by your supervisor to assure that a successful maintenance program is maintained at all times. REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
* Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma or equivalent. * Ability to understand basic maintenance tasks consistent with facility priorities. * Professional demeanor with resident community. * Familiarity with plumbing and electrical systems. * Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks. * Basic knowledge of HVAC systems. * Ability to operate maintenance equipment safely. * Basic mechanical skills. REQUIRED SKILLS:
* Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language. * Experience in carpentry, painting, plumbing , construction. * Take inventory of maintenance supplies and notify the supervisor when stock is low to ensure availability of necessary items. * Conduct routine inspections of premises and equipment to identify and report potential issues. * Perform minor repairs such as fixing leaky faucets, unclogging drains, and replacing light fixtures. * Must possess the ability to make independent decisions, follow instructions and accept constructive criticism. * Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public. * Must maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, etc., must perform regular inspections of resident rooms/units for safety and proper performance. * Must be willing to work harmoniously with other personnel as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level at which they are currently functioning. * Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices. * Assist with the setup and takedown of furniture and equipment for events and meetings. * Follow all health and safety regulations and practices on every job * Troubleshoot and repair issues with HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems * Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.
