We are seeking a qualified Maintenance Manager. This position is responsible for the day-to-day coordination of the maintenance mechanics in conjunction with operations to provide the customer with safe and reliable equipment to meet their needs. These maintenance duties are necessary for off-highway equipment, in a steel mill application.

Pay: $115,000 - $125,000 annually

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with Operations to plan maintenance repairs necessary to provide safe, reliable equipment to meet and exceed customer's needs.
  • Manage maintenance mechanic staff required to maintain off-highway equipment
  • Must be able to schedule mechanics in a 24/7 operation.
  • Schedule, plan, and ensure compliance with Corporate mandated Preventive Maintenance program.
  • Must be knowledgeable of all costs associated with the operating of off-highway equipment
  • Will be responsible for hiring qualified maintenance mechanics to meet the needs of the customer.
  • Adhere to Corporate maintenance policies, and provide maintenance staff with the tools and education to achieve this goal.
  • Coordinate and manage capital improvement projects.

The job centers around developing new ideas, systems and technology, and also analyzing and improving on old ones. A high level of expertise is expected and the ability to spot and correct errors is important. Work must be done right and quickly, while always focusing on accomplishing the goal and demanding the highest quality work from co-workers and subordinates.

Interest and energy focuses primarily on the work at hand, with negligible inclination for small talk or social involvement. The broad scope of the job demands a factual, direct and authoritative style of communication.

Decision-making, though swift, is very calculated and singular, with little reliance on consensus or collaborating opinions. *

  • Ideal candidate must have strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic background
  • Must have experience with aggregate conveying and processing equipment
  • Candidate must be able to read and understand electrical and hydraulic schematics
  • Preference will be given to BA/BS degree as well as a combination of experience/education.
  • Preference will be given for 7+ years of experience within the scrap/metal industry, or with off-highway equipment.
  • The candidate must also have the ability to function both effectively and independently as a member of a cross-functional team demonstrating teamwork and communication skills with a commitment to cooperation and collaboration among business functions.
  • They will be proficient with Microsoft Office software including PowerPoint, Excel and Word as well as ERP software.
  • Candidate will have strong oral and written skills, good statistical analysis skills, will be market research orientated, and demonstrate strong knowledge of the scrap recycling industry.

*This job requires strong analytical and technical abilities and demands fast, but carefully thought-out results. Strong leadership and control of the work process from beginning to end is necessary.
