Operations Supervisor

Position Overview:

We are looking for an Operations Supervisor to work onsite at our union location in West Mifflin, PA.

The Operations Supervisor will oversee daily operations at an industrial scrap processing facility. The ideal candidate will have experience in the scrap industry, heavy equipment or heavy manufacturing and possess strong leadership and organizational skills.

You will be trained and responsible for managing a shift or department in a scrap metal recycling facility. The equipment used is heavy duty construction type equipment such as front end loaders, off the road trucks, hydraulic cranes and equipment designed to process scrap metal into a usable commodity.

Pay: Up to $80,000 per year

Schedule: Primarily M-F / Ability to work flexible shifts is required

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise and lead a team of operators, technicians, and laborers in an industrial environment.
• Monitor and control the operation of heavy equipment, including scrap cranes, excavators, and other machinery.
• Ensure safety procedures are followed at all times to prevent accidents and injuries.
• Perform routine inspections and maintenance of equipment to ensure proper functioning.
• Coordinate and schedule work activities, ensuring the efficient flow of materials and production.
• Provide on-the-job training and guidance to new employees.
• Troubleshoot issues and provide solutions to equipment or process problems.
• Maintain clear communication with management regarding operations, safety, and production.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience, preferably in a heavy equipment operation, in a steel mill, or industrial setting.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in an industrial setting.
• High school diploma or equivalent required. Additional technical training or certifications are a plus.
• Ability to work flexible hours, with some weekends, as needed.
