Summary:

The System Vice President for Quality under the supervision of the System Chief Medical Officer is responsible for providing administrative oversight for UNC Health system in-patient quality improvement, quality assurance, patient safety, accreditation, and infection prevention as well as those functions that ensure UNC Health's licensed providers deliver the highest quality care. The role has critical relationships with UNC Physicians, UNC Health Alliance, and UNC Health System-level Quality Improvement Oversight Committee who, together, are responsible for execution of strategic quality improvement plans for the UNC Health statewide system.

Responsibilities:

1.Provides executive leadership to ensure a culture of high reliability, patient safety and continuous improvement, excellence in performance on national and local key metrics as well as achievement of organizational quality goals.

2.Identifies highly credible and relevant national metrics which will inform and drive the performance goals of the health system and directly oversees the submission, monitoring, and strategic planning for nationally publicly reported ratings to ensure accurate representation of performance (CMS 5Star, Leapfrog, National clinical registries, etc.)

3.Oversees performance improvements in care delivery including the development of new models of care delivery to advance quality and safety performance across UNC Health. This position provides leadership in the alignment of these efforts across the health system through the system Quality Improvement Oversight Committee.

4.Provides executive leadership and direction for system patient safety activities in order to create and maintain UNC Health as a high reliability organization that prioritizes several key principles including a sensitivity to operations, a reluctance to simplify, a preoccupation with failure, a deference to expertise, and culture of resilience.

5.Provides executive leadership and direction for planning, organizing and leading all accreditation surveys and regulatory compliance with Joint Commission, North Carolina Department of Health, and Center for Medicare and Medicaid standards.

6.Develops and executes effective infection prevention and regulatory compliance strategies across the system.

7.Provides executive leadership for the system office of medical staff services and peer review overseeing all aspects of credentialing, privileging, and peer review to ensure compliance with regulations and accreditation standards.

8.Partners and advises physician leaders such as entity Chief Medical Officer's (CMO's), Service Line Leaders, Medical Directors, elected medical staff and program directors on quality programs to achieve organizational goals and achieve national top performance thresholds.

9.Manages and supports the UNC Health Quality Improvement Oversight Committee which oversees and governs quality and patient safety for the health system.

10.Responsible for both preparing and presenting quality reports related to quality goals, progress, and challenges for the UNC Health Board of Directors and/or other Executive Leaders across the system.

11.Responsible for the development of system training and education opportunities to advance knowledge of quality improvement and patient safety.

Qualifications

Professional Experience Requirements:
* Requires a minimum of twelve (12) years of experience, with at least ten (10) years of management experience.
