The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview:

The Medical Staff Coordinator serves as a resource and facilitator to the credentialing and reappointment process of the Medical Staff members, and monitors that these processes are in keeping with regulatory standards.

Assists in the daily operation of the Department by performing credentialing, secretarial, receptionist, financial, ordering and general clerical duties.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Associates degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Three years experience in a hospital setting, preferably in Medical Staff Services
  • Demonstrates expertise in typing/word processing
  • Must possess strong organizational and communication skills
  • Clerical experience including use of computer, scanner, copier machine and software program skills, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Microsoft Outlook required

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of medical terminology a plus but not essential

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • Currently holds or willing to pursue CPCS certification from the National Association of Medical Staff Service (NAMSS) within five years of employment

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain general knowledge of JCAHO, State, standards and regulations that govern Medical Staff
  • Maintain knowledge of NBIMC Medcial Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations and Departmental Rules and Regulations
  • Ensure timely appointment, reappointment and FPPE process in compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Facilitate primary source verification and timely review process as outlined by the Medical Staff Bylaws
  • Interact with CVO, other hospitals and departments for collection of data required to evaluate practitioner competency
  • Serve as Secretary to the Credentials Committee
  • Maintain proficiency in utilization of Medical Staff database / software, including accurate data entry and execution of statistical reports and rosters
  • Perform a broad range of word processing, typing, clerical and computer related tasks
  • Generate monthly reports and reminders to Medical Staff for collection of current license, insurance, etc.
  • Collaborate with CVO to ensure an accurate and current database
  • Prepare suspension notices when Bylaw requirements are not met
  • Attend meetings of the Credentials Committee, Medical Executive Committee, Annual Medical Staff, Bylaws Committee, Review/Search Committees, etc.
  • Prepare minutes as requested by the Director
  • Maintain knowledge of issues currently being addressed by the Medical Staff
  • Collaborate with CVO to execute database revisions, generate letters and notifications that result from monthly approval of credential recommendations
  • Assist with on-boarding / orientation of new Medical Staff members as needed (ID badge, CAM, etc.)
  • Ensure timely response to outside inquiries regarding affiliation/status of NBIMC Medical Staff members & assist all customers in an appropriate & courteous manner
  • Coordinate with annual dues invoices, record keeping & deposit of annual Medical Staff dues
  • Participate in regulatory surveys and interact with surveyors in relation to Medical Staff function
  • Participate in general function of Medical Staff Services including maintaining the Medical Staff lounge and bulletin board, arrangements for meetings and social functions, purchasing of supplies, phone coverage, mailings and maintenance of general office equipment
