The Spirit of the Position:

The National Senior Director of Maintenance, Transportation provides strategic and operational leadership for the Maintenance Department across all shuttle operations, ensuring safe, reliable, compliant, and costeffective performance in a 24/7 environment. Reporting to the VP of Transportation, North America, this role oversees location-based shops, fleet reliability, mechanical safety, budgeting, and P&L support, while maintaining daily financial accountability and high service standards.

The Senior Director leads maintenance planning, staffing, and performance management, and partners closely with operations, safety, and executive leadership. This position is accountable for meeting and exceeding LAZ Transportation standards, airport authority requirements, and all applicable regulatory mandates.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational + Safety Leadership



  • Lead and oversee all maintenance operations across company-operated shops and thirdparty vendors to ensure safe, reliable, and continuous fleet availability.
  • Ensure full compliance with LAZ Transportation policies, servicespecific requirements, and all applicable OSHA, DOT, and local/state/federal regulations.
  • Maintain fleet and facility compliance to ensure continuous audit and inspection readiness.
  • Champion a strong safety culture by enforcing safety standards, procedures, and best practices across all maintenance operations.
  • Lead accident and incident investigations and oversee corrective action implementation.
  • Ensure all warranty repairs, recalls, and manufacturer campaigns are completed accurately and within required timelines.


Financial + Performance Management



  • Direct daily fleet and maintenance operations across all LAZ regions.
  • Develop, manage, and ensure adherence to the annual maintenance budget aligned with the Transportation preventive maintenance program.
  • Conduct P&L analysis for executiveassigned initiatives, including existing operations, new business, and fleet underwriting.
  • Support business development through fleet cost modeling, underwriting analysis, and ongoing P&L reviews.
  • Analyze department performance and provide data driven recommendations to improve efficiency, cost control, and asset utilization.
  • Audit work orders to ensure accuracy, completeness, proper documentation, and cost control related to labor, parts, and repairs.
  • Monitor and validate thirdparty repair activity to ensure proper documentation and compliance within the Vehicle Management System (VMS).
  • Track, analyze, and present annual claims data, quarterly goals, and yearend performance results to executive leadership.


Organizational + Strategic Leadership



  • Set and execute a strategic vision for maintenance operations aligned with the overall LAZ mission and business objectives.
  • Develop and present strategic initiatives and operational improvement programs to executive leadership.
  • Provide leadership and oversight for recruiting, hiring, developing, and retaining maintenance talent.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews and professional development assessments, including training needs and succession planning.
  • Partner with regional leadership to ensure maintenance teams are adequately staffed, trained, and resourced to perform duties safely and efficiently.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across all maintenance operations and locations.
  • Prepare and maintain management, audit, and performance reports on a monthly or as needed basis.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by senior leadership.


Requirements:

Travel:


  • At least 50% of travel is required.
  • Must have current travel documents for international travel.

Education:


  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Higher education is preferred.

Experience:


  • Proven leadership experience in fleet maintenance, transportation, and/or shuttle operations is preferred.
  • Multi-site and multi-state oversight experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of preventative maintenance programs, fleet systems, and compliance requirements.

Physical Demands:


  • Ability to lift, push, and pull at least 50 pounds.

  • Willingness to work in the elements - heat, wind, snow, rain, etc.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability bend, stoop, squat, and lift frequently throughout a shift.
