Parker Meggitt, an addition to Parker Hannifin, is a global leader in the Commercial and Military Aerospace markets, specializing in a wide range of products including fire and smoke detection systems, extinguishing systems, bleed air overheat detection systems, actuators, rudder pedal assemblies, pumps, fuel gauging systems, and high-temperature cables. Located in Simi Valley, CA, this site is within the Fire Safety & Power Systems Division (FSPSD) and is a key supplier in select energy markets, particularly in nuclear gas analyzers and nuclear containment vessel penetration cables. We work directly with some of the largest aerospace companies in the world, including Airbus, Boeing, Embraer, and Lockheed Martin, among others.

MECHANICAL ENGNEER 3

Position Summary:

The Mechanical Engineer III leads the development and optimization of core products by driving advanced research, analysis, design, and validation of mechanical components, processes, and systems. This role owns portions of complex programs, setting technical direction, resolving higher-complexity design challenges, and ensuring design intent is met across performance, reliability, manufacturability, and compliance targets. They spearhead engineering projects, coordinate cross-functional teams within the business unit, and serves as a primary technical interface with customers and suppliers through regular, proactive engagement.

Responsibilities:

  • Appliesthe engineering design process to develop conceptual and detailed product specifications by analyzing performance and customer requirements. Investigates design factors such as function, pressure vs temperature curves, materials, performance, interchangeability, cost (non-recurring and recurring), operational efficiency, and contractual requirements.May developpreliminary designs fromcustomerinputand descriptiveinformationprovided by others.
  • Appliesscientific analysis andmathematical modelsto predictand measure theoutcome and consequence of design alternatives. Interprets and validates test results for accuracy and precision. Generates product validation and verification procedures to achieve customer and product specifications. May utilize and interpret predictive models to simulate and verify design concepts.
  • Providestechnicalinformationforreviewwith productengineeringteamsusing establishedengineering practices, standards, and documentation methods (e.g. structured design process; customer design reviews). Writes supporting documentation for procedures and technical reports; may write technical responses or proposals for customers.
  • Contributesto thecompletionmilestonesassociated with specificprojects (e.g.createfunctional diagrams and system layouts; review detailed drawings and schematics; define data structure, interfaces and programming logic; analyze material requirements; research customer data item requirements). Maintain efforts within defined cost and schedule constraints including status and root cause/corrective actions of associated variances.
  • Reviews product specifications to ensure clarity, completeness, form, fit, function, and conformity to standards and procedures.Applies problemsolving techniques toidentify and resolvedesign errors, omissions, and other deficiencies, and recommends revisions, engineering change orders, and improvements to engineering management or the project team.
  • Sharesspecializedknowledgewith others.Assignedto mentornewemployees.May representthecompany on specific projects or engineering tasks.
  • Supports productstrategyandtechnologyroadmapdevelopment

Qualifications:

  • Has a thorough knowledgeofproductarea and domain and developsbreadth ofknowledgeofindustry practices, techniques, regulations, and policies.
  • Proficientwithengineeringdesign and analysis tools;abilityto use standard softwarepackages.May require using specialized software applications or languages.
  • Abilitytoapplystandardpracticesandtechniquesinspecificsituations,adjustandcorrelatedata,recognize discrepancies in results, and follow operations through a series of related detailed steps or processes.
  • Ability to work withgeneral objectives regarding projectsandteamgoals;applies judgmentin selecting procedures and techniques that should be applied. Works collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficientwithstandardproject managementtoolsandpractices.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present status, actions, recommendations, and other technical information with clarity and precision.Responsive toinquiriesfromotherengineeringand business teams.
  • Preferred, but not required: Experience with pressure vessels, pressure switches, and electro/mechanical design experience.

Education & Experience:

  • Education requirement: Bachelor's degree (BS) in Mechanical/Aerospace engineering or adjacent science technical discipline.

  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through 5 or more years of related experience.

This position is subject to meeting U.S. export compliance and/or U.S Government contracting citizenship eligibility requirements.

Competitive Compensation

  • Pay Range: $100300 to $166900 annually
  • Participation in Annual Incentive Program
