What to Expect

Tesla's infotainment EE team is responsible for the electronic architecture, design, and development of multimedia computer use in vehicles and real-time AI compute platforms. We are seeking a detail-oriented, hands-on hardware engineer with a strong experience in electronic system, board-level bring-up, characterization, validation, system integration, failure analysis, and manufacturing support. In this role, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop, characterize, and delivery computers and peripheral units end-to-end in Tesla vehicles and AI infrastructure.


What You'll Do
  • Develop schematics and PCB layouts that meet functional, electrical, thermal, manufacturability, and firmware/software requirements
  • Lead board bring-up, characterization, and validation activities; troubleshoot and resolve issues
  • Perform thorough failure analysis on returned or failing units, identify root causes, and drive corrective actions
  • Create and maintain high-quality documentation including validation plans, test reports, and review materials
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to seamlessly integrate infotainment systems into the vehicles and AI infrastructure, considering the requirements of power, harness, inter-communication, EMC, thermal, reliability, and SW
  • Delivery infotainment hardware systems that may include multimedia computer, phone charger, power supplies, and other support circuitry from concept to production

What You'll Bring
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Strong electronic engineering fundamentals
  • Hands-on experience with PCBA bring-up, characterization, validation, FA, and system testing with test equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, etc) by using command line, scripting, or UI in Linux and Windows OS
  • Experience with characterization and validation of fundamental interfaces (I2C, UART, SPI, JTAG, GPIOs, ADC, etc.), and/or high-speed serial and memory interfaces (PCIe, USB, DDR, Display Port, HDMI, Ethernet, CSI, etc.) as a bonus
  • Experience and knowledge with power testing and validation
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills with the ability to clearly present technical information to cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams for high-volume manufacturing
  • Passion for Tesla's mission and advancing computer use in vehicles and AI infrastructure
  • HW validation experience in x86/ARM based CPU and Microcontroller system with companion components is a bonus qualification

    Expected Compensation
    $100,000 - $354,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
