Newton Scientific (NSI) is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented person for a full-time, hourly position testing electro-mechanical products. We provide training on our products, equipment, and test procedures. You will work alongside experienced technicians, learning to perform tests, collect reliable data, and communicate unexpected results. Success requires consistent attendance, careful attention to instructions, and the judgment to ask questions when something does not look right.

This is an entry-level electronics testing role. You will spend most of your day connecting units to test equipment, running computer-based tests, and accurately recording results. The work involves following repeatable procedures, entering specified values, and recognizing when results need further attention. Inspection, labeling, serial-number entry, and mounting boards are also part of the job. This role suits someone who enjoys structured, hands-on work, is comfortable using a computer, and can stay focused and accurate through repetitive tasks.

What You Will Do

  • Set up and run electronic device tests by connecting units, entering specified values, and collecting test data according to established procedures and work instructions to verify that products meet performance and quality requirements.
  • Conduct visual inspections and final inspections of assemblies.
  • Following training, operate test equipment including oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, high-voltage test equipment, and other specialized production test equipment.
  • Accurately document test results and maintain complete production records.
  • Compare results with defined acceptance criteria and report unusual readings or inconsistencies.
  • Apply labels and accurately enter and verify serial numbers in our database.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding production schedules, technical questions, and identified issues on a regular basis.
  • Perform electro-mechanical assembly using hand tools and fixtures to assemble electro-mechanical products and subassemblies according to work instructions.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Comfort entering data, navigating software, and following on-screen instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy with serial numbers, numerical values, and records.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English and communicate questions clearly.
  • Critical thinking to recognize unexpected results or inconsistent information and seek guidance.
  • Patience and concentration for repetitive inspection and testing tasks.
  • Dependable attendance, consistent follow-through, and a strong work ethic.

Preferred Experience:

  • Technical coursework, vocational training, or an associate's degree in electronics or a related field.
  • Prior electronics testing experience or familiarity with electronic test equipment or electro-mechanical assembly.
  • Surface-mount (SMT) or through-hole soldering skills are helpful but not required.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while inspecting and testing units.
  • Frequent use of hands to handle small units, attach labels, connect test leads, and use a computer.
  • Ability to visually inspect products and read labels and test results, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to lift and move materials up to 20 lbs., with or without reasonable accommodation.

Compensation

$25.00 - $29.00 per hour. Starting pay will be determined based on the selected candidate's experience, qualifications, skills, and internal equity. The final offer may fall anywhere within the posted pay range.
