Position Purpose:

Develop and manage the successful implementation, opening and upholding of Veterinary hospital systems and processes within identified Petco Pet Care Centers. Coordinate and prioritize project tasks, multiple work streams and timelines.

The position will work in partnership and at times lead cross functional teams across Petco including but not limited to: Regional/Area Medical Directors, Area Operations Manager, Human Resources, IT, Marketing, Communications, Real Estate/Construction, and Store Operations.

Essential Job Functions:

The incumbent must be able to perform all the following duties and responsibilitieswith or without a reasonable accommodation.

  • Lead new hospital implementation and training, set up of all veterinary programs ensuring adoption of policies and programs that drive quality improvement and provide feedback to drive success, partnering with Regional/Area Medical Directors and Area Operations Managers as appropriate.
  • Supports and maintains Standardized Training Plan for new hospital openings.
  • Physical training and support of brand new hospital locations.
  • Site build of brand new hospitals, including stocking of items and setting up hospital equipment.
  • Collaborates with Head of Vet Medicine on veterinary quality assurance program and develop strategies and tactics in partnership with Regional/Area Medical Directors and Area Operations Manager that result in successful launch of vet hospitals.
  • Maintain vendor relations and buyer contacts.
  • Hospital system implementation, maintenance, and compliance including city and state licensure.
  • Maintains Helpdesk Knowledge Base Learning Guides
  • Provides State Veterinary Board operational requirements and implementation protocol
  • Reviews and approves hospital layout and construction updates including remodels.
  • Day and overnight travel by car and/or plane is required.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position will not have supervisor responsibility at this time.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned
  • Change Management leader
  • Innovate and always seek to optimize the Petco Hospital Implementation program.

Work Environment:

Travel intensive role, that will require overnight stays. The majority of work is completed within a Pet Care Center on site at a new hospital location.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 3- 5 years previous experience working in a veterinary practice
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Must have excellent writing, interpersonal communication and multi-tasking skills and be detail oriented.
  • Can work in an autonomous environment and maintain productive time management.

Desired Requirements:

  • Licensed Veterinary Technician or Certified Veterinary Assistant
  • Eight to ten (8-10) years progressively responsible Program Management experience that involved working in a multi-unit retail environment
  • No Travel Restrictions

This position will regularly communicate with internal partners, veterinary specialists, store partners, and companies that provide products and/or services that the practice utilizes. The right candidate will be able to positively represent the hospital and Petco within the professional community and to our guests.

The pay ranges outlined below are presented in accordance with state-specific regulations. These ranges may differ in other areas and could be subject to variation based on regulatory minimum wage requirements. Actual pay rates will depend on factors such as position, location, level of experience, and applicable state or local minimum wage laws. If the regulatory minimum wage exceeds the minimum indicated in the pay range below, the regulatory minimum wage will be the minimum rate applied.

Salary Range: $76,500.00 - $114,700.00
