Who You Are:

Versar Global Solutions is seeking a Senior Accountant who possesses a solid understanding of GAAP. Working closely with the Controller, you will be responsible for cost accounting, General Ledger Accounting, and revenue recognition on a portfolio of diverse and exciting projects. This position will interact with his/her peers, Finance and Accounting management, and other functional areas in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

What You'll Do:

  • Assist and/or prepare timely, complete, and accurate monthly financial reports including calculation and posting of revenue, associated accruals, prepaid expenses, bank and other reconciliations, and budget variance analysis
  • Read and interpret the basic contract document as it relates to billing and revenue recognition, identify and confirm invoice requirements with the contracts department and Project Manager as necessary.
  • Responsible for lifecycle project accounting from creating project accounts, to tracking projects and project budget, validating invoices, project close-out, and reconciling overall project payables and receivables to project budgets
  • Perform detailed and involved accounting tasks related to managing project contract, billing events and billing transaction exceptions revenue for medium-sized and/or moderate-level complex projects
  • Collaborate with project managers to devise a project structure that considers billing, revenue, cost accumulation requirements, and make project accounting recommendations as needed when contract modifications or budget changes arise.
  • Prepare various client billing types including Cost Plus, T&M and Fixed Price billings for submission to customers.
  • Perform monthly revenue review and research discrepancies.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations of billed/unbilled vs. revenue activities, research and resolve unexplained reconciling items.
  • Prepare closing general ledger entries for various accounts, including cash, accruals, and accounts payable.
  • Ad hoc reporting and audit requests as necessary.
  • Perform all other position-related duties as assigned or requested.

What You'll Bring:

  • Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
  • Master's degree is a plus but not required
  • Minimum Five (5) years of accounting experience
  • Minimum one to three (1-3) year experience working with a Government Contractor
  • Familiarity with Oracle and/or Deltek Cost Point
  • Strong technical aptitude
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities
  • Strong MS Excel Skills with formulas, Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, data format/sort/filter
  • Big Data analysis skills a plus
  • Must be proficient in English, both written and verbal, to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Successful results of pre-employment screenings, including federal background check, MVR, and drug screen.
  • Comply with company drug and alcohol policy.
  • Be authorized to work in the US or will be authorized by the successful candidate's start date.

Compensation

Expected Salary: $70,000 - $75,000 per year

Versar Global Solutions provides the compensation range and general description of other compensation and benefits that the Company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and geographic location. The Company reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's status protected by local, state, or federal law.

Location Requirements

The position will primarily work onsite at the ATL Airport.
