This opportunity is in the Insurance Underwriting Department

The Insurance Underwriting Department offers a culture of empowerment to produce results and resolve clients' issues. Our team has an excellent track record of success with an experienced and creative group of people that work well together while underwriting various lines of coverage for large accounts representing numerous industries.

Role Description:

As an Excess Workers' Compensation Underwriting Director, you will play a critical leadership role in driving the profitable growth of Safety National's portfolio within your assigned territory. You will evaluate, select, and price complex excess workers' compensation risks, leveraging your deep expertise to make strategic underwriting decisions that align with company guidelines and objectives. In this role, you will analyze detailed risk information-including loss history, financials, and operational exposures-to determine appropriate structures such as loss fund attachments, self-insured retentions, and premiums.

You will serve as a trusted partner to brokers and agents, building strong relationships while identifying opportunities to expand our market presence. Collaborating closely with Business Development, Claims, and other underwriting teams, you will contribute to cross-selling strategies and ensure a unified approach to large account opportunities. Additionally, you will mentor and guide less experienced underwriters, helping to strengthen team capabilities and uphold underwriting excellence.

Your role will also involve staying informed on regulatory and market developments across your territory, participating in industry events, and representing Safety National as a subject matter expert. With significant autonomy and influence, you will help shape underwriting strategy, support key business initiatives, and contribute to the long-term success of the organization.
