About the role

The Operations Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing all power plant operations to ensure safe, reliable, compliant, and efficient performance. This role reports to the Facility/Plant Manager and provides direct leadership to operations personnel while coordinating with maintenance, engineering, and environmental teams. The Operations Manager ensures compliance with environmental, health, safety, and regulatory standards while driving continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and promote a strong Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) culture; ensure zero incidents and full regulatory compliance
  • Ensure compliance with all permits, operating procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Manage daily power plant operations, including boiler, turbine, and auxiliary systems to optimize performance and reliability
  • Provide direct leadership, coaching, and performance management to operations supervisors and staff
  • Coordinate operational activities and crossfunctional projects to ensure efficient plant execution
  • Maintain plant readiness for abnormal and emergency conditions while supporting safe, efficient routine operations
  • Conduct inspections of boilers, turbines, and mechanical systems to meet operational and performance targets
  • Oversee development, tracking, and execution of technical, safety, and compliance training programs
  • Administer and oversee operational studies focused on improving efficiency, reliability, and equipment performance
  • Ensure plant manuals, operating procedures, and work instructions are current and effective
  • Perform audits of operational practices to ensure procedural compliance and continuous improvement
  • Review, compile, and present operational and technical performance reports
  • Ensure operations areas meet housekeeping and safety standards at all times
Working Conditions
  • 24/7 operational environment

  • 12hour rotating shift schedule
  • Industrial power plant setting
  • Overtime and oncall responsibilities as operational needs require
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred; equivalent plant operations supervisory or managerial experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Experience in power plant operations or highpressure boiler systems with a strong understanding of overall plant operations
  • Supervisory or managerial experience in an industrial or power generation facility
  • 10 or more years of experience in a leadership role within an industrial or power generation environment preferred
  • Experience in specialty chemical plants, coalfired power plants, or facilities with significant material handling is strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of materials processing systems, including conveyors, cranes, hoppers, and bulk material handling equipment
  • Maintenance experience supporting outages and rotating or electrical generation equipment, such as turbines and generators, preferred
  • Working knowledge of one or more of the following - Electrical and control systems; Air compressors; Condensate pumps; Cooling water systems; or Solid fuel combustion and materials handling processes
  • Experience with continuous improvement initiatives, safety leadership, and incident management
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and demonstrated Root Cause Analysis capability
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written, and organizational skills
  • Handson, analytical leadership style with the ability to learn and adapt quickly
  • Career growth-oriented mindset
  • Ability to obtain ASME QRO/CFO certification or other required certifications within six months of hire

Pay Transparency

Reworld is committed to paying its staff equitably, and we strive to provide competitive compensation and benefits packages. The range below reflects Reworld's reasonable estimate of base pay for this role based on primary posting location. It is expected that most qualified candidates in this location will fall within the posting range. The final salary offered for this role will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to: experience, education, geographic location, skills and competencies, travel requirements and/or union contracts (if applicable). Pay ranges are reviewed from time to time and may be modified in the future.

The pay range for the primary location of this position is: $136,600.00 - $195,300.00 USD. For hourly roles, this is the annualized salary. To calculate the hourly rate, divide by 2080.
