RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS: Asset & Wealth Management Legal is seeking an experienced real estate transaction attorney to support the Asset & Wealth Management (AWM) Real Estate team. The attorney will work as part of a team of AWM real estate lawyers advising AWM Real Estate and will focus on real estate acquisition, development, construction, joint ventures, financing, leasing, asset management and disposition across multiple product types in the Americas, including office, multi-family, industrial, hospitality, senior housing, student housing and retail. Familiarity with REITs is desired, but not mandatory. The position offers the opportunity to partner with the business and other control-side areas and oversee legal aspects throughout the transaction life cycle, including the analysis of regulatory and reputational issues as part of investment committee and portfolio management processes. RESPONSIBILITIES * Advising on the structuring, negotiation and execution of debt and equity real estate transactions, taking into account legal, regulatory, reputational and compliance issues * Supporting ongoing asset management * Managing outside counsel and overseeing legal due diligence * Handling transaction-related fund and fiduciary issues * Coordinating with other GS control-side areas QUALIFICATIONS * 5-7 years' relevant experience working in a leading law firm, financial institution or institutional real estate company * Significant experience with the negotiation and preparation of real estate transactional documentation (term sheets, acquisition, disposition, leasing, development, construction, financing, etc.) and joint venture agreements * Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage several simultaneous projects under deadlines * Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills; ability to clearly articulate ideas and develop stakeholder relationships * Team-oriented with ability to respond and be flexible to client demands while adhering to firm policies and group practices * Ability to engage proactively as an advisor to the business and collaboratively work with other control areas * High level of initiative, integrity, and organization ABOUT GOLDMAN SACHS
