Position Overview

The Plant Manager oversees the daily operations on the plant floor while enhancing production and revenue. You will manage scheduling, supervise daily operating reports, and boost production by providing leadership and developing strategic plans.

Essential Functions

  • Lead, manage, and develop plant employees to ensure they possess the necessary capabilities and culture to maintain effective operations. This includes establishing direction, gaining commitment, delegating responsibilities, and building organizational capabilities
  • Ensure all staff members adhere to OSHA general standards related to manufacturing facility safety protocols
  • Responsible for maintaining the facility, including understanding and explaining basic mechanical theory to direct reports, coordinating with vendors, and projecting and establishing preventative maintenance programs and schedules while directing the maintenance staff to ensure all equipment is properly maintained and operational
  • Workforce Planning/Scheduling
  • Ensure our products meet or exceed quality control standards using specified SOP testing methods
  • Manage notable projects and improvements as directed
  • Create a work environment that ensures the safety and health of employees, the community, and the environment
  • Focus on continuously improving the competitiveness of operations
  • Recognize customer commitment and drive activities for ongoing quality improvement
  • In conjunction with senior group management, establish and oversee activities to meet short- and long-term plant goals
  • Improve efficiency and capacity through capital expenditure improvements in processes and procedures and through both formal and informal continuous improvement activities
  • Conduct monthly safety meetings as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience in production management
  • Ability to operate or willingness to train for forklift operation
  • Production/distribution experience required; industrial gas industry or equivalent experience preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of cylinder gases and processes of each
  • Knowledge of all regulatory agencies including, but not limited to, FDA, DOT, OSHA, and EPA
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with customers, employees, and management
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and stand for extended periods
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft applications, TIMS CU

While performing this job, the employee must stand for long periods, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone, keyboard reach, stoop, and kneel. This person must be able to lift, carry, or set down 50+ pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time, exempt, and on-site position. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, and range from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The compensation range reflects WestAir's good-faith estimate for the base compensation expected at the time of posting. Compensation offered will be determined by the job-related factors, including skills, experience, qualifications, education, and geographic location.
