Hospital Lab Technician I - Microbiology

The Clinical Microbiology Laboratory at UCLA Health is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Hospital Laboratory Technician I to join our team. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting accurate and timely diagnostic testing by assisting with specialized microbiology procedures and specimen processing.

Key duties include:

* Process Ova and Parasite (O&P) specimens.

* Prepare Pneumocystis and fungal stains.

* Handle Mycology and AFB blood specimens for processing.

* Set up and operate the Vitek ID/AST instrument.

* Inoculate microdilution MICs for antimicrobial susceptibility testing.

* Subculture quality control organisms to maintain testing accuracy.

Salary Range: $27.71/hour - $36.60/hour

* High school diploma or equivalent (e.g. GED or HiSET).

* Availability to work weekends, holidays, and variable shifts.

* Ability to work independently and demonstrate resourcefulness in a fast-paced lab setting.

* Working knowledge of clinical microbiology techniques and specimen processing - preferred.
