Summary:

Assists Provider with all interventional exams as directed. Gathers and documents data for medical record, orders and stocks supplies when needed. Is responsible for call coverage. May be asked to perform post procedure follow up on care and document/report findings to Provider. Documents unsuspected and safety findings using MIDAS system.

Type of Opportunity: Full time FTE: 1.00 Job Exempt: No Work Shift: Varied Days and Hours (United States of America)

Responsibilities:

Assists Provider with preparing, performing, and processing Interventional exams. Work as a team to prepare/break down room. Ensures correct supplies are available prior to the exam to avoid delays. Uses safe practices for injector, setting up sterile tray, entering/leaving room during procedure, and radiation protection for all present during case. Monitors and documents patient contrast and radiation dosimetry.
Technical:

  • Completes annual competency created for specialty.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of function and operation of all equipment and supplies.
  • Ensures all equipment had had annual PM and or electrical safety checks and that all supplies used are present and not expired.
  • Discusses procedure needs and expectations with radiologist prior to procedure start.
  • Able to assist the Provider during all procedures provided.
  • Able to instruct patients with pre-post procedure instructions and care

Compliance:

  • Ensures all required documentation is available and completed according to established hospital guidelines.
  • Ensures all labs, correlative radiology/blood results are available for review prior to start of procedure.
  • Performs proper patient ID by asking patient to provide full name and DOB. Checks that response against both ID band and Hospital orders to ensure right pt, right order.
  • Recognizes when an unexpected or adverse event/outcome has occurred and documents in MIDAS. Brings to immediate attention to Provider and Leader

Employee:

  • Completes all mandatory hospital CBT modules.
  • Follows proper chain of command when addressing any issues or concerns.
  • Always maintains a positive and pro-active attitude.
  • Self-motivated to complete daily assignments in timely fashion without prompting by lead or supervisor.
  • Ensures room is left procedure ready for next exam.

Quality:

  • Documents room temperature/humidity as directed.
  • Checks documents for accuracy prior to scanning into required medical records.
  • Properly labels all items on sterile tray. Nothing on sterile tray should be unlabeled.
  • Properly sets up sterile tray and does not leave unattended to avoid contamination.
  • Wears hat, mask, other PPE when entering/leaving procedure room.

Performs appropriate post processing labeling, exam documentation, other pertinent pre/post patient information required for safe radiation practices. Uses Time out Stamp or equivalent. Does not proceed with exam if PT has high BUN/Create without Provider discussion.

  • Supports team by taking fair share of call and other clinical duties (expected and unexpected).
  • When not busy, actively seeks to support other areas or looks to take CM hours if possible.
  • Adapts to changes to schedule and work assignments between two campuses.
  • Willingly instructs new hires/students.
  • Supports those taking call by keeping on schedule with their room assignments.

Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in Radiologic Sciences.
  • ARRT (R) Certification within 1 yr. after graduation. CANDIDATES WHO ARE SELECTED FOR THE POSITION MUST SIGN AN AGREEMENT TO OBTAIN THIS CREDENTIAL.
  • New Mexico Medical Imaging License.
  • Cardiac cath lab or interventional radiology experience preferred.
