We are searching for a talented Manager-Public Safety Operations

Hours:40hrs

Shift:Day shift with weekend, holiday, and on-call rotation; 8:00am - 4:00pm

Location: St. Luke's Hospital - New Bedford, MA

Travel: Driving on average 3 or more times per week required

**Available to regular status employees who are scheduled to work a minimum of 24 hours.

Position reports to the Executive Director of Public Safety & Emergency Management or designee. Responsible for a broad range of activities associated with the development, implementation, deliverance and maintenance of institution wide security programs. Make day-to-day administrative decisions consistent with established policies and procedures. Position requires rotation to various hospital sites and other Southcoast Health facilities as needed.
  • Five (5+) years of security/Public Safety operational management experience.
  • Familiarity with health care systems and hospital administration preferred.
  • Bachelors Degree preferred, or equivalent security/safety education and experience.
  • Be familiar with the criminal and civil statutes relevant to the security operations.
  • Software including WordPerfect, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
  • Be familiar with security systems throughout Southcoast Health, to include alarms, CCTV, access controls, and other security related hardware.
  • Strong organizing and coordinating skills.
  • Must possess upon employment or be eligible to obtain and maintain the ability to lawfully possess a firearm for the purposes of law enforcement employment.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Massachusetts Driver's License.
  • The ability to be licensed as a Special State Police Officer under the Commonwealth of MA General Laws Chapter 22 C, section 63 strongly preferred.
  • If licensed, must consistently meet all training and other requirements for continued licensure.
  • Ability to obtain IAHSS Basic Officer, Advanced Officer, and Supervisor Training Certification within one year of eligibility.
  • Must obtain and maintain required certifications in the following programs (training provided by department): CPR/AED/First Aid, Narcan (Naloxone) Training, HAZWOPER, HERT, ICS 100, 200, 700, Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) De-Escalation Training; OC Pepper (OCAT), Handcuffing (PATH), Baton (PPBT) education and training.
  • Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal Influenza and the COVID 19 virus or to be exempt from the requirement for medical or personal reasons by signing a statement certifying you are choosing to be exempt from vaccination once hired.

  • Compensation: Pay rate will be determined based on level of experience.
