Job Summary

The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and supporting mechanical products and systems, including instruments, controls, machines, and thermal or heat transfer systems. This role applies engineering principles and research to the planning, design, development, analysis, and testing of mechanical and electromechanical systems. The Mechanical Engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet technical requirements, quality standards, and program objectives while supporting the production, transmission, measurement, and utilization of energy.

Job Responsibilities




  • Design and develop mechanical and electromechanical products, systems, and components.



  • Create and modify engineering models, drawings, and documentation using CAD tools.



  • Perform mechanical design analysis and support system integration activities.



  • Develop designs that comply with applicable engineering standards and specifications.



  • Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles to engineering drawings and product designs.



  • Conduct testing, evaluation, and validation of mechanical systems and components.



  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and program teams to resolve technical challenges.



  • Support design reviews and implement improvements based on performance, reliability, and manufacturability requirements.



  • Maintain accurate engineering documentation and configuration control throughout the product lifecycle.




Job Requirements




  • Active Secret Security Clearance required.



  • Minimum of 5 years of mechanical engineering experience.



  • Proficiency with CREO 10 for mechanical design and modeling.



  • Experience using DSR6.



  • Experience with EPDM.



  • Strong knowledge and practical application of GD&T.



  • Understanding of mechanical design, analysis, and engineering best practices.



  • Ability to interpret technical requirements, specifications, and engineering drawings.



  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.



  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.




Education




  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline required.




Work Experience




  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in mechanical engineering, including mechanical design and development activities.

  • Position may be performed onsite at one of multiple approved work locations.



  • Regular onsite attendance is required based on project and program needs.
