We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Chicago for a Sr. Manager Technical Product Management (Hybrid) on our Mission Operations team. This is a hybrid position reporting into our Chicago, IL office, requiring 3 days a week in the office.
This role leads platforms and vendor management for the data systems that support Organizational Biopsy and Joy in Medicine, ensuring they reliably support client delivery and research needs. Within the program scope, this role serves as the product owner for data, automation, and reporting capabilities, setting requirements, priorities, and quality standards for program execution. This role translates business and client needs into scalable technical solutions, steward data integrity, and guide system evolution as programs grow and change. As a technical and product leader, this role is responsible for operational and program-level results, ensuring the data and technology ecosystem operates with rigor, reliability, and adaptability.
This role manages professional staff and/or supervisors, generally manages a homogenous team. This role is responsible for business results of an area of expertise or a small discipline - primarily operational.
Product Ownership * Serve as the product owner for data, automation, configuration and reporting technology and platforms supporting Organizational Biopsy and Joy in Medicine, defining what capabilities exist and the standards they must meet. * Lead requirements gathering, grooming, prioritization, and roadmap planning for data platforms, reporting and configuration tools, and automation capabilities. * Research and draft proposed Organizational Biopsy question set changes, including data structure and methodological implications as well as input from the physician faculty and program delivery teams. * Continuously scan emerging tools, platforms, and approaches-including AI-enabled capabilities-to inform roadmap recommendations and system evolution. * Actively gather and synthesize stakeholder input, user feedback, and performance data to drive prioritization, roadmap decisions, and continuous improvement of data products and analytics capabilities.
Platform and Vendor Management * Serve as the primary point of contact and relationship owner for data and technology vendors supporting Organizational Biopsy and Joy in Medicine. * Provide vendor and platform selection input, scoping, and ongoing performance management, collaborating with the Product Director and internal stakeholders to get their input on criteria and decisions. * Translate product requirements and priorities into clear scopes of work, success criteria, and delivery expectations for vendors and platform partners. * Ensure platform and vendor-delivered work meets defined standards for quality, security, reliability, and timeliness. * Oversee testing, quality assurance, and release planning for platform, reporting, and automation changes. * Manage platform and vendor-related risks, dependencies, and lifecycle considerations as systems evolve. Technical Deliver * Establish clear and collaborative intake, prioritization, sequencing, implementation and review processes for technical work across data, analytics, platforms, and automation efforts. * Manage technical backlogs and delivery cadence in partnership with internal teams and external vendors. * Balance near-term delivery needs with iterative improvement of platforms, data products, and workflows. * Diagnose delivery blockers, dependencies, and cross-cutting issues and lead resolution across teams. * Define and reinforce standards for documentation, handoffs, and readiness to support reliable iteration. * Foster a culture of continuous improvement, learning, automation, and accountability in data and technology delivery.
Staff Management * Lead, mentor, and provide management oversight for staff. * Responsible for setting objectives, evaluating employee performance, and fostering a collaborative team environment. * Responsible for developing staff knowledge and skills to support career development.

Bachelor's degree required, master's degree strongly preferred 7+ years of experience in technical or product management for data-intensive platforms that combine analytics, automation, and user-facing configuration capabilities Demonstrated ability to translate complex business, data, and client needs into reliable, scalable technical systems, balancing rigor, user experience, automation, and operational resilience. Experience in people management required; able to attract and develop talent. Strong systems thinking, with the ability to understand how platforms, data pipelines, automation, analysis, and reporting interact across the full program lifecycle. Working knowledge of survey design best practices, including question construction, response bias, and psychometric validation techniques preferred. Ability to work fluently with engineers, analysts, researchers, and vendors, asking the right technical questions and evaluating options without owning day-to-day build work. Experience defining success criteria and holding partners or vendors accountable for agreed-upon deliverables and performance expectations within program scope. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective product and data management practices, including requirements definition, prioritization, release planning, testing, and readiness. Ability to identify, evaluate, and implement opportunities for automation and AI to improve efficiency, reliability, and scalability of data products and workflows.
Ability to synthesize diverse and conflicting inputs-including stakeholder feedback, user behavior, performance data, and delivery experience-into clear product decisions and tradeoffs. Strong judgment in balancing rigor, reliability, and usability, particularly in environments where data quality and consistency have high credibility stakes. Background in data science, statistics, analytics, engineering, information systems, product management, Agile, UX or related quantitative or technical fields. Background in or experience with health systems, health care, physician workforce, and/or well-being and burnout strongly preferred.
Additional Technical Components
- Strong working knowledge of relational and analytical databases, sufficient to define requirements, assess tradeoffs, and evaluate data model and performance implications.
- Familiarity with scripting and analytical programming environments commonly used in data automation and analysis, sufficient to inform requirements, feasibility, and design decisions.
- Experience defining, evaluating, and evolving automated reporting and analytics workflows used by clients or senior stakeholders.
- Familiarity with survey platforms and response data systems, including implications for data quality, comparability, and downstream analysis.
- Experience establishing and overseeing data quality assurance, testing, and validation practices for survey, analytical, and automated outputs, including use cases for AI in testing.
- Experience operating within multi-vendor, cloud-based technical ecosystems, coordinating dependencies and evaluating delivery risks across platforms.
- Experience using work management and issue-tracking tools to manage technical backlogs, prioritize work, and track delivery against product goals

This role is an exempt position, and the salary range for this position is $119,074-$157,855. This is the lowest to highest salary we believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's pay within the salary range will be determined by a variety of factors including but not limited to business consideration and geographical location, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
