Posting Summary
The scientist will lead the Rutgers CryoEM & Nanoimaging Facility ( RCNF), a regional core facility providing access to techniques such as single-particle analysis, cryo-electron tomography, cryo-focused ion beam micromachining, cryo-scanning electron microscopy, correlative light and electron microscopy studies, and microelectron diffraction supporting intramural, academic, and industrial researchers. The RCNF is a pillar of Rutgers' excellence in structural and cellular biology, supporting significant discoveries in the fields of antimicrobial development, neurodegeneration, gene expression, quorum sensing, viral pathogen discovery, and protein engineering. The RCNF is co-located in the Proteomics building with the RCSB Protein Data Bank, with other biomolecular core facilities, and with computational and "wet-lab" faculty who foster a culture of excellence in structural biology at Rutgers.

The scientist will supervise and manage facility staff and oversee the facility's instruments, including our flagship "Krios" cryo-transmission electron microscope and other electron microscopes. The scientist is expected to disseminate new or cutting-edge techniques among Rutgers scientists; to lead shared instrumentation grants for new and upgraded equipment; to consult and advise users on experimental design; and to skillfully carry out nanoimaging experiments. The scientist will be responsible for day-to-day operations of the RCNF and will participate alongside her/his staff in all aspects of facility operations. The scientist will proactively and responsively communicate with the facility faculty advisory committee, advisory committees for individual instruments or projects, and key users to facilitate success across the university and beyond. This post will report to the Rutgers-New Brunswick Office for Research.
