Position Overview

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides direct and indirect resident care under the direction of licensed nursing personnel. This role supports adult and geriatric residents by assisting with daily care needs, maintaining a safe environment, and documenting care according to established protocols.

Job Responsibilities




  • Assist residents with activities of daily living, including hygiene, grooming, dressing, toileting, incontinence care, catheter care, turning, positioning, and skin care.



  • Maintain resident safety and comfort by responding promptly to call lights and alarms, using safety equipment appropriately, and keeping the unit clean and organized.



  • Support resident nutritional needs, including meal delivery, tray preparation, feeding assistance, adaptive equipment use, and nourishment distribution.



  • Assist with restorative and maintenance care, including range of motion, ambulation, transfers, body alignment, and use of assistive devices.



  • Honor resident preferences, choices, rights, refusals, and concerns.



  • Report resident concerns, changes in condition, and physical, emotional, or psychosocial changes promptly to the Charge Nurse or Supervising Nurse.



  • Complete documentation accurately and according to protocol.



  • Follow all applicable policies, procedures, and scope-of-practice requirements.



  • Perform duties that may involve occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens, body fluids, or tissues.




Job Requirements




  • Current New York State Nursing Assistant Certification required.



  • Current BLS certification required through AHA or RQI.



  • Minimum of one year of long-term care or nursing assistant experience required.



  • Ability to provide care appropriate to adult and geriatric residents.



  • Knowledge of age-specific care needs, growth and development principles, and resident safety practices.



  • Ability to follow care plans, communicate effectively, and report changes in resident status promptly.




Education




  • High school diploma or GED required.




Work Experience




  • One year of previous long-term care or CNA experience required.

  • Schedule: 37.5 hours per week after lunch breaks.
