THE POSITION

As a Purchasing Agent Supervisor with the Department of Human Services, you help ensure that facilities across the state have what they need to operate safely and efficiently. This role offers the chance to guide the skilled purchasing team of the Bureau of Juvenile Justice Services (BJJS) and support vital programs serving youth. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position oversees complex purchasing and warehouse operations that support multiple juvenile justice facilities across the state. As a Purchasing Agent Supervisor, you will perform the following duties:
- Procurement Oversight: Manage purchasing activities for goods, services, and commodities across all BJJS facilities
- Policy Compliance: Review purchase requests and verify that all procurement actions follow established regulations and guidelines
- Vendor Coordination: Work with vendors to inspect goods, resolve concerns, and support contract compliance
- Warehouse Management: Supervise warehouse operations and inventory processes for Loysville Youth Development Center and associated facilities
- Team Leadership: Direct the work of purchasing agents and warehouse staff to support efficient operations

- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Loysville. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $51,971.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as a Purchasing Agent (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Four years of experience in purchasing work involving contact with vendors in the procurement of a variety of supplies, materials, equipment, or services; or
- Four years of experience in requisitioning, receiving, storing, distributing, and maintaining inventory of goods; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training. Post-high school education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for purchasing or stores experience to a maximum of two years.

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- You must pass a background investigation.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
- Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
